Direct Hire – Test Technician (3rd Shift)
Location: Waukesha, WI
Hours: 11pm - 7am Sun to Thrs
**MUST TRAIN on 1st shift 7am - 3pm 

Pay: $37.70 per hour

KELLY is seeking experienced Test Technicians to join a leading manufacturer of large power transformers in Waukesha, WI. This is a direct hire opportunity offering long-term career growth, advanced technical training, and the chance to work with high-voltage electrical testing equipment in a state-of-the-art manufacturing environment.

As a Test Technician, you will develop expert-level skills performing Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) on large power transformers and their components. This role supports critical testing operations to ensure product performance, quality, and compliance with industry standards.


Key Responsibilities
  • Perform electrical testing on large power transformers and related equipment.
  • Test and verify control wiring, instrumentation, fans, monitoring systems, and electrical components.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and test procedures.
  • Troubleshoot wiring, control systems, and electrical test failures.
  • Perform low-, medium-, and high-voltage testing, including Hipot, resistance, insulation, and performance testing.
  • Set up and tear down transformers and test equipment for testing activities.
  • Conduct transformer performance testing to verify quality and compliance with industry standards.
  • Document test results, investigate issues, and support corrective actions.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including NFPA 70E, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and fall protection requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Qualifications
Required:
  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Power Systems, High Voltage Technology, Utilities Engineering, or a related field

OR

  • 2+ years of experience performing transformer testing, factory acceptance testing (FAT), commissioning, field service, or related electrical testing.

Also Considered:

  • Journeyman or Master Electrician certification

OR

  • 2- or 4-year degree in any field plus 2+ years of experience in electrical testing, manufacturing, field service, commissioning, power distribution, transformers, switchgear, or utility-related industries.
Preferred Skills
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Experience using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and electrical testing equipment.
  • Knowledge of electrical troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Experience working with transformers, switchgear, power systems, or industrial electrical equipment.
  • Familiarity with PLCs, LabVIEW, or automated testing systems is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift and move up to 25 lbs.
  • Walk, stand, climb, balance, push, pull, and carry throughout shift
  • Work at heights up to 30 feet using required fall protection equipment
  • Ability to work in a large manufacturing facility and high-voltage testing environment
