Position: 4th Grade Elementary School Teacher

Location: Potomac, MD

Alim Academy Overview: Alim Academy/Muslim Community School is the oldest Islamic daycare through grade 12 school in the DC metro area. Located on an idyllic, sprawling campus in Potomac, MD seconds away from I-495/I-270, Alim Academy offers a robust accredited curriculum to meet the diverse needs of the American Muslim community. Our student body and faculty are diverse, multicultural and represent the rich tapestry of the American Muslim community in Montgomery, Prince George’s and Fairfax counties, where most of our students reside. We have placed our graduates in many of the nation’s top universities, including Columbia, Harvard, UPenn, Johns Hopkins, Georgetown, UVA, amongst other elite institutions. Most importantly, we help our students gain a strong sense of their Islamic identity and instill moral and ethical values that last with them long after they’ve left our halls.

Position Overview: We are seeking a qualified and experienced 4th grade teacher to join our dedicated staff for the 2024-2025 school year. Our classroom sizes are small, often with under 15 students in each, allowing our educators and students to form deep connections.

The ideal candidate will have a deep passion for education, a thorough understanding of elementary curriculum standards and instructional best practices, and a commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom environment. S/he will be proficient in core curriculum instruction, as well as effective classroom management, differentiated instruction, and project-based learning.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three years of teaching experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies/Arts, Child Development, or other education related major (strongly preferred)
  • Teaching license or certificate (strongly preferred)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and administrators.
  • Good health, high moral character, and good attendance record

Pay: $30,000.00 - $35,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Vacation/sick days: 10 days per academic year
  • Paid time off/school closures including Federal and Islamic holidays: 29 days per academic year
  • 50% tuition reduction for each enrolled child ($5,500 value per child, tax-free benefit - a benefit normally worth over $7,000/yr in post-tax wages)
