Position Announcement 
Regis is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time Early Childhood and Lower School Music Teacher. This role reports to the Lower School Division Head.

Job Description 
As a Sacred Heart Educator, the Music Teacher’s primary purpose is to help students grow in their enjoyment, appreciation, and performance of music through a variety of planned music experiences. The educational environment that is established must be in accordance with the Goals & Criteria of the Sacred Heart mission.  

Responsibilities 

• Teach Pre-K3 through Fourth Grade Music classes. 
• Plan/execute a balanced music program and organize class time so that preparation, rehearsal, and instruction can be accomplished within the allotted time. 
• Inspire appreciation for music in its many forms. Guide students in exploration of rhythmic, instrumental, and vocal music disciplines. 
• Provide a variety of age-appropriate music and performing experiences which include: reading music, listening and moving to music, playing instruments, singing, and exposure to the great creators and performers of music through the ages and across genres. Encourage and guide students to develop individual musical and performing skills and interests, as appropriate.  
• Plan, organize, and facilitate developmentally appropriate, boy-centered instruction. Possess a love for teaching boys and utilize boy-friendly teaching pedagogy. 
• Plan and implement curriculum that is vertically aligned throughout early childhood and lower school, and that prepares students for the rigors of middle school music. 
• Collaborate with homeroom teachers to integrate elements of musicality into their core instruction, when applicable. 
• Maintain care/responsibility for school-owned music, musical instruments and equipment to prevent loss or abuse. Make minor adjustments and request repairs to instruments as required. Be forward thinking about the potential purchase of equipment for student use. 
• Foster collaborative and positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents. Work in partnership with teaching colleagues to create, plan, rehearse, and execute student performances for families. 
• Collaborate with the Director of Fine Arts and the Director of Liturgy and Religion on prayer services, masses, and other outward-facing performances and showcases. 
• Participate in faculty and department meetings, serve on committees, and perform various faculty supervisory duties as needed. 
• Attend school functions that support the school’s mission and vision, both during and outside the normal school day. 
• Engage in professional development and commit to consistent growth as an educator. Attend Sacred Heart conferences and ongoing formation to mission opportunities. 
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School, Director of Fine Arts, or Division Heads. 

Qualifications 

• Bachelor’s Degree (minimum) 
• Degree in Music, Music Performance, or Music Education 
• Proficient at accompanying students by playing at least guitar or piano 
• Experience teaching in the PK-elementary school environment with a focus on boys’ education 
• Experience with multiple classroom behavior management pedagogies and strategies 
• Knowledge of and proficiency with utilizing technology 
• Passionate about forming young boys' hearts and minds in the Catholic faith 
• Strong organizational skills; self-motivated and responsible; strong communication skills and attention to detail 
• Diplomatic, tactful, and possessing the ability to show grace under pressure 
• Empathetic to the needs and differing dynamics of families who attend the school 
• Strong interpersonal relationship-building skills; team-oriented 
• Flexibility and “can do” attitude toward supporting colleagues as needed 
• Reflective practitioner with a growth mindset
