Work Schedule: 40 hours per week, 5 days per week, hybrid work eligible. This role requires occasional night and weekend hours to support events, programs, and community partnerships.

Position Summary

The Museum Education Specialist's primary goals are to maximize onsite experiences for K-12 education groups, youth visitors, and families and to provide exceptional and engaging service that embodies our mission and welcoming culture. The Museum Education Specialist focuses on educational workshops and activity facilitation, camp coordination and supervision, and on-site programming support. They will collaboratively develop curriculum, tour scripts, and self-guided materials. The Museum Education Specialist is an integral member of our team and must be able to interact with the general public, families, students, teachers, and groups.

Essential Job Duties (other duties as assigned) Museum Education, Group Learning, and Camps

• Facilitate and lead youth education programs including in-museum workshops, interactive craft programs, and MOPOP camps. Provide secondary support for MOPOP Residency programs and other public programs as needed.
• Routinely develop and review in-museum workshop lesson plans, pre-visit resources, and self-guided materials. Suggest ongoing improvements based on group needs and evaluations, and lead revision process.
• Collaboratively develop and review MOPOP tour materials. Provide feedback and guidance to tour facilitators.
• Coordinate MOPOP camp programs and partner camp programs, including but not limited to artist contracts, registrations, guardian communication, promotion materials, onsite oversight, and camper support.
• Work closely with teaching artists and volunteers to support high-quality educational experiences. Act as a resource for volunteer training, in-gallery material development feedback, and general museum education support.
• Support education group visit experiences by providing recommendations to guests, such as sharing learning resources, onsite activities, gallery guides, and upcoming program opportunities.

Administration

• Provide secondary support for onsite education groups in collaboration with the Group Experience Specialist and Visitor Services team. Support may include coordinating logistics with group leads, managing and monitoring bookings and payments, coordinating additional program coverage as needed, inputting and updating reservations, preparing and distributing evaluation forms, and generating reports.
• Work to ensure standards for education safety are met and policies and best practices are accessible andobserved across teams.
• Collaborate with other museum departments to support the smooth operation of education group visits alongside other museum events and programs.
• Coordinate statistics and reflection tracking for camps and workshops to report insights on service, revenue, and attendance goals.
• Assist with set-up procedures, organization, inventory, and upkeep of classroom spaces and education supplies.

Preferred/Desired Qualifications

• Three (3)years ofrelated workexperience,preferably in education or museum environments.
• Demonstrated experience with formal and informal education,activity-basedlearning environments (youth programs, camps, museums, etc.), and engaging students in themed content.
• Experience with curriculum development, classroom management, and gallery learning.
• Experienced relationship builder with customer service skills. Able to provide effective and prompt customer service for external participants and partners, including but not limited to communication, booking, and payment processing.
• A flexible, supportive team player capable of bringing perspective to even the most stressful moments.
• An efficient and clear communicator, well-versed in communication and planning strategies.Passionate about pop culture and its ability to bring people together.
• Inclusive of diverse points of view and perspectives. Proven commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.
• Strong MS Office skills, especially in Word and Excel.
• Ability to work well with a diverse group of colleagues.
• Flexibility for the changing needs of a fast-paced environment.
