The Shop at Philbrook is looking for a Sales Associate to join our team!
Nestled in 25 acres of beautiful gardens, Philbrook Museum of Art is a 1920s Italianate Villa featuring a dynamic and ambitious program of rotating exhibitions and galleries with selections from an actively growing collection of approximately 15,000 objects. With artworks from Africa, the Americas, Asia, and Europe dating from 3,000 BCE to today, Philbrook is Oklahoma's most comprehensive art museum and offers visitors a glimpse into a broad range of cultures, time periods, and perspectives. The diverse collection supports a vision of Philbrook as central to the lives of our community as a place for learning, inspiration, and fun. Through bold action and strategic investment, we create a space for new ideas, diverse perspectives, and social connection.
JOB SUMMARY: As a Sales Associate, you are primarily responsible for providing product knowledge, and exceptional service.
In this role you will greet guests, process sales, answer calls and questions, as well as maintain sales floor appearance and merchandise levels.
What You Will Do:
  • Provide high quality customer service to Museum Shop clientele to generate sales.
  • Engage guests in the overall Philbrook experience through exhibitions, events, museum collection and history, and programming.
  • Enter sales transactions accurately into the register and package merchandise while engaging customers in Philbrook activities and membership opportunities.
  • Prepare shop for opening and perform closing procedures, including balancing money drawer and sales tickets, and generating end of day reports.
  • Assist in sales floor and back stock room merchandise inventory levels.
  • Fulfill telephone, mail, on-line, and special request orders from shop customers. Pack and ship merchandise according to shop procedures.
  • Work as team to perform daily projects as directed by the Floor Manager to include but not limited to cleaning, preparing packaging and product information materials, and labeling of merchandise.

Requirements
What You Will Bring:
  • Wednesday through Sunday availability
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to quickly develop rapport with a diverse population including museum visitors, members, donors, and staff
  • Self-motivated and takes initiative
  • Ability to multi-task and must maintain flexibility
  • Ability to continuously learn new information and communicate effectively
  • Must be able to stand or walk for at least 80% of shift, and lift and carry up to 20 lbs.

Equivalent Education/Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • At least 1 year of retail or service industry experience
  • Experience developing long-term customer relationships in a similar environment preferred
  • Previous cash handling and operational experience with a POS sales system strongly preferred

Pay is $15.00/hour. The chosen candidate must be flexible with hours worked to include evenings and weekends. Wednesday - Sunday availability is a must.
