Join the dynamic team at the Ralph Mark Gilbert Civil Rights Museum as a Tour Guide. If you have a passion for history and enjoy engaging with the public, we invite you to apply. Examples of Duties As a Tour Guide, you will Conduct guided tours of the Ralph Mark Gilbert Civil Rights Museum.
Use dialogue and inquiry while encouraging guests to explore the Museum's exhibits. Advance the Museum's educational mission by developing and providing educational programs for the public. Utilize communication and customer service skills while sharing your enthusiasm and willingness to learn.
Complete an Introductory Museum Training Course and study selected readings about Savannah's Civil Rights Movement. Be available to work weekends. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED, and At least six (6) months of customer service experience; or Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Preferred Qualifications: Some education in history or political science. Prior experience teaching and/or giving tours.
During emergencies and disasters affecting Chatham County, you may be required to report to work as part of a disaster operations team. In accordance with the Department of Transportation, Commercial Driver's License (CDL) holders and those employed in safety-sensitive positions are subject to random drug testing. Candidates with direct and relevant experience may receive an offer of up to 10% above the minimum salary that is posted, reflecting their exceptional qualifications.
