Assistant/Associate Professor/Professor of Medicine/Nephrology - OU Health - The University of Oklahoma
I. ACADEMIC APPOINTMENT
The OU Health Sciences Center and OU Health are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Nephrologist to join our dynamic academic medical center. The successful candidate will contribute to excellence in clinical care, education, and research in the field of nephrology. This is a full-time faculty position with appointment at the level of Assistant/Associate Professor/Professor in the Department of Medicine, College of Medicine with opportunities for career advancement. This position will be a consecutive term appointment in the clinician educator pathway.
II. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Doctoral degree (MD or equivalent)
• Board certified or eligible in Internal Medicine and Nephrology.
• Eligible for medical licensure in the state of Oklahoma.
• Demonstrated excellence in clinical care, teaching, and research.
III. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Proven ability to collaborate across disciplines and foster a collegial academic environment.
• Prior experience in medical education and/or clinical research.
• Interest in quality improvement, population health, or health disparities research.
IV. AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Clinical Care
• Provide comprehensive nephrology services, including the diagnosis and management of acute and chronic kidney disease, hypertension, and fluid/electrolyte disorders.
• Supervise and provide care for patients requiring dialysis (hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis) and those with renal transplantation.
• Participate in multidisciplinary care teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Serve as a consultant for inpatient and outpatient nephrology cases.
Teaching and Mentorship
• Conduct teaching rounds with medical students, residents, and fellows.
• Participate in curriculum development and teaching activities for the nephrology training program.
• Mentor trainees and junior faculty in clinical and research skills.
Research and Scholarly Activity
• Engage in independent or collaborative research within nephrology or related disciplines.
• Contribute to the academic mission through presentations at national or international meetings.
Administrative and Leadership Duties
• Participate in departmental committees and quality improvement initiatives.
• Support institutional goals aligned with the academic medical center's mission and strategic plan.
