Department Overview
The Regenerative Engineering and Rehabilitation lab of Dr. Karina Nakayama, in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, is recruiting a talented research assistant to join our team. The RA2 will participate in translational studies to evaluate tissue engineered therapies and regenerative materials in small animal injury and exercise models to achieve the goal of musculoskeletal functional recovery. Specifically, they will perform and assist with animal studies, fabricate biomaterials, perform in vitro assays and cell culture, imaging, as well as help with the daily functions of the lab. This position will involve working on collaborative team projects composed of engineers, biologists and clinician scientists.
Function/Duties of Position
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's in relevant field OR
- Associate's AND 3 years of relevant experience OR
- 4 years of relevant experience OR
- Equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Prior experience working in a translational research settting.
- Hands-on wet lab research experience with in vitro assays and cell culture.
- Knowledge of animal models.
- Knowledge of immunofluorescent staining and microscopy techniques.
- Ability to multi-task and adjust/adapt to project developments; prioritize tasks and meet multiple deadlines on concurrent projects; organize and execute a variable workload.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
