Job Description
The Information Systems Business Technician is responsible for providing technical assistance to local education agencies (LEAs) to facilitate successful implementation and use of the ASCENDER Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
Education Qualifications:
  1. Public school district, charter school, or Education Service Center business experience preferred
  2. Training in the field of accounting, business, or computer science is preferred.
  3. Bachelor's degree required.
  4. Database or information systems experience preferred

Experience:
  1. Experience in the field of accounting, business, or computer science preferred (preferred)
  2. Knowledge of Ascender or other school accounting software (preferred)

Special Knowledge and Skills:
  1. Knowledge of school business procedures including payroll processing, personnel data entry, bank reconciliation, accounting and data processing
  2. Demonstrates knowledge of general accounting/bookkeeping troubleshooting for general ledgers, account codes, school budgets, etc.
  3. Ability to analyze and evaluate simple accounting or data entry problems including identifying errors and offer provide technical support for correction
  4. Knowledge of or experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software such as ASCENDER, Skyward, eSchoolPlus, Munis

Specific Responsibilities and Duties:
  1. Knowledge of school business procedures including payroll processing, personnel data entry, bank reconciliation, accounting and data processing
  2. Demonstrates knowledge of general accounting/bookkeeping troubleshooting for general ledgers, account codes, school budgets, etc.
  3. Ability to analyze and evaluate simple accounting or data entry problems including identifying errors and offer provide technical support for correction

Program Management:
  1. Actively markets available services to new and existing potential clients.
  2. Assists the department in the management of the information systems operations including selecting materials and resources for the program, participating in innovative projects, assisting with training for LEA staff
  3. Performs other duties as assigned
  4. Assumes responsibility for implementing support services to customers through formal and informal procedures.
  5. Demonstrates an increasing knowledge of computer operations, software and information systems solutions.
  6. Conducts training for the local education agency staff in areas of supported software and procedural changes specific to school business.
  7. Provides telephone and on-site consultation in support of the Texas Enterprise Information System ASCENDER software, the Public
  8. Education Information Management System (PEIMS), Time Clock Plus, and other software systems as needed.
  9. Participates in required program meetings/trainings/events to meet program goals
