LOCATION: United States-Remote

Position: Full Time-Exempt

The Benefits Underwriter will manage health insurance risk and premium pricing for Engage PEO prospects and clients. This role reviews submission data, develops competitive benefit pricing, and ensures accuracy and timeliness throughout the pricing process. The position also partners with consultants and sales teams to support growth while maintaining effective risk management.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the internal team or third-party vendor in reviewing the submitted informationfrom the Sales Support team, ensuring all required documentation has been received,and setting up appropriate underwriting tools. Conduct parity on all new underwritingbusiness submissions in the absence of the third party or internal role for this portion ofthe job
  • Review all data and tools for completeness and accuracy while reviewing the risk andassigning the associated premium to support the risk
  • Complete a full evaluation of the proposed prospects and the Engage benefit pricing andproposal and communicate final pricing to the consultant and sales teams.
  • Prepare available plan portfolio options for each medical proposal generated
  • Prepare Multiplan comparisons and contribution analysis when appropriate
  • Work with the underwriting team to produce monthly reports relating to quotes, quotevolume, quote tracking, book performance, and other related data
  • Provide Quote Analysis and appropriate actuarial review of data and offer insight intochanges or updates to the process to achieve plan performance targets
  • Ensure that all systems are accurately updated with all underwriting metrics and data

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work closely with Sales Support, Underwriting, Operations, and Business units across theorganization to understand the Engage PEO sales model and value proposition
  • Work directly with client services, sales, and other members of the benefits teams forquestions regarding plan offerings and guidelines
  • Work closely with the other team members to generate proposals utilizing third-partyanalysis, parity tools, health scores, and carrier-established manual rates. You will ensureproper rate banding and provide alternative plan structure options according to theEngage Insurance Agency Underwriting guidelines
  • Performs other duties as required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field
  • Minimum 2 years of work experience in financial analysis or pricing and/or healthbenefits underwriting
  • Professional Employer Organization (PEO) experience is a plus
  • Proficient with MS Office and Intermedial Microsoft EXCEL skills
  • Resident State Health insurance license (215) is a plus
  • ClientSpace and PrismHR knowledge is a plus
  • Apply basic underwriting skills to compare benefit plans and rates, along withappropriate risk banding to utilize in quoting new business
  • Working knowledge of the Health Insurance industry across all coverage lines: Health,Life Disability, Dental, and Vision plans
  • Familiarity with ACA and compliance, preferred
  • Strong Analytical skills to understand numeric data to interpret and apply pricing guidelines to specific situation

COMPENSATION:

The starting base pay for this position is listed below. However, you should know that the pay rate may vary based on regional location, the candidate’s skill, and relevant experience. In addition, some positions may include a form of bonus or other incentive compensation, which would not be included in this salary range.

Salary Range: $60,000-$75,000
