Position Summary
Organization: New Mexico Educational Assistance Foundation
Location: 7400 Tiburon NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109
An Off-Campus Work-Study Position - MUST have a Work-Study Award
This role is ideal for students looking to gain hands-on experience creating content for a digital news platform, Brant One (https://brant.one) This is a great opportunity to get your work published while supporting an organization that helps New Mexicans pay and plan for college. Journalism, Communications, and English majors are highly encouraged to apply.

EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Primary Duties
Pitch and write original new articles, features, or multimedia stories.
Contribute photography to accompany stories or editorial assignments.
Assist with researching and gathering information for ongoing stories.
Conduct interviews (phone, video, or in-person).
Support fact-checking and proofreading processes.
Collaborate with editors and multimedia teams.
Attend department meetings and contribute story ideas.
Help manage content for digital platforms and social media.
Monitor current events, with particular attention to New Mexico, and propose relevant story ideas.
Minimum Qualifications
Enrolled in a degree seeking program at UNM, Enrolled at least half-time (6 hours) at UNM for fall and spring semesters (Audit hours do not count), and if Work Study, you must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress.
Preferred Qualifications
Qualifications
Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or related field.
Strong writing, grammar, and storytelling skills.
Curiosity and a passion for news, current events, and media.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Basic understand of AP Style.
Familiarity with digital tools (e.g. CMS platforms, social media, Google Docs)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Equivalent toa high school diploma, currently enrolled in an accredited university withmajor course work in Journalism, Communications, or English.
