Designer 3

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Designer 3 to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for designing components and system portions, as well as modifying existing designs to enhance products and streamline manufacturing processes. Your expertise will contribute to the development of innovative solutions in a collaborative environment, utilizing advanced CAD tools to bring concepts to life and support our engineering and manufacturing teams.

Responsibilities

  • Design components or system segments, ensuring alignment with project specifications and manufacturing requirements.
  • Modify existing designs to improve product performance and facilitate efficient production.
  • Utilize computer-aided design tools such as CAD, CAM, or CATIA to create detailed layouts, sketches, and proposals.
  • Gather relevant information, conduct studies, perform calculations, and prepare initial rough layouts for design proposals.
  • Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning teams to ensure design criteria meet operational and contractual standards.
  • Ensure all submittals are prepared on company letterhead and submitted on a first-come, first-served basis, referencing Req #46889 CL.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or a 2-year technical degree in a related discipline, with at least 6 years of experience in design and shipbuilding.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD 2018 2D Design is essential.
  • Prior knowledge of Planning Yard processes, procedures, and naval design principles, including structure, foundations, and outfitting, is highly preferred.
  • Ability to work in Pascagoula, MS, with travel up to 25% required.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing and design coordination, with a focus on ease of manufacture and material availability.
