JOB TITLE:
Social Media Coordinator
JOB PURPOSE:
The Social Media Coordinator oversees Student Media's social media presence by developing and executing content strategies that promote the Branding Iron, WyoWire, Frontiers, Owen Wister Review, and other Student Media products. This position coordinates social media content across multiple platforms, builds audience engagement, and supports the promotion of Student Media's print, broadcast, and digital content.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Manage Student Media social media accounts, including Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube, TikTok, and other platforms.
  2. Create, schedule, and publish content that promotes Student Media products and events.
  3. Coordinate with editors and staff to highlight news, sports, features, and multimedia content.
  4. Monitor engagement, analyze performance, and recommend strategies for audience growth.
  5. Attend editorial meetings and assist with promotional campaigns and live event coverage.
  6. Maintain regular office hours as assigned.
  7. Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Must be enrolled as a University of Wyoming student.
  2. Experience with major social media platforms and digital content creation.
  3. Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work collaboratively in a newsroom environment.
  4. Familiarity with social media analytics and graphic or video editing software preferred.
  5. Working knowledge of AP Style or willingness to learn.
  6. Attention to detail and ability to identify errors and inconsistencies.
  7. Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced newsroom environment.
  8. Prior experience in journalism, editing, student media, or related coursework is preferred but not required.
  9. Must be available for publication deadlines on Sundays and Wednesday nights.
  10. Must be available Tuesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. for training.
