Multifamily Staff Accountant# Multifamily Staff AccountantArboretum Office Park - Farmington Hills, MI 48331## OverviewPosition TypeFull TimeJob ShiftDayCategoryAccounting## DescriptionThe **Multifamily Staff Accountant** is responsible for full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of multifamily residential properties and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with company policies, owner requirements, and applicable management agreements. The role requires a strong understanding of property accounting, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple properties and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.**Essential Duties and Responsibilities*** Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial statements and reports for a portfolio of multifamily properties.* Perform general ledger account reconciliations and analysis to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.* Assist with the preparation of annual operating budgets and forecasts for assigned properties.* Conduct variance analysis and provide clear explanations for significant fluctuations between actual and budgeted results.* Review, code, and process invoices in accordance with accounts payable procedures.* Ensure compliance with applicable management agreements, internal controls, and company accounting policies.* Maintain and review resident ledgers, rent rolls, and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy of financial records.* Support utility, expense, and resident billing processes as applicable to multifamily operations.* Prepare year-end workpapers and assist with audit and tax preparation processes.* Assist with property acquisitions and dispositions, including financial onboarding and offboarding activities.* Collaborate with property management, operations, and accounting teams to resolve discrepancies and support property performance.* Complete special projects and other duties as assigned by Accounting Manager, Controller, or Chief Financial Officer.**Required Qualifications*** Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.* Minimum of two (2) years of multifamily or real estate accounting experience preferred.* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with strong emphasis on Excel.* Experience with Yardi or similar property management/accounting software preferred.* Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.* Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a team.* Effective written and verbal communication skills.# **Equal Employment Opportunity Statement**Friedman Real Estate is an Equal Opportunity Employer and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any kind.
