Job description

DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

Multi-Unit Bakery • Retail • Wholesale • Catering

Compensation: $80,000 - $100,000 Base Salary + Bonuses + Benefits

A new and growing multi-unit bakery and retail franchise organization is seeking an experienced Director of Operations to lead and strengthen our day-to-day operations across multiple business channels.

This is a hands-on leadership position for an experienced operator who understands that success in a bakery business starts with excellent production, quality and consistency — and continues through strong retail execution, customer service, wholesale relationships and catering growth.

The ideal candidate will have meaningful experience in commercial baking or bakery production combined with multi-unit retail and/or foodservice operations.

Key Responsibilities

The Director of Operations will oversee and support:

· Bakery & Commissary Operations — production planning, baking processes, product quality, yields, waste, food cost, labor productivity and food safety

· Multi-Unit Retail Operations — store execution, staffing, scheduling, training, customer service, cleanliness and brand standards

· Wholesale Operations — production coordination, order fulfillment, delivery execution and customer relationships

· Catering & Large Orders — operational execution and development of catering and institutional sales opportunities

· Labor & Cost Controls — establish and manage labor targets, purchasing controls, waste reduction and operating budgets

· Inventory & Purchasing — ingredient forecasting, inventory management, vendor relationships and purchasing efficiencies

· Quality Assurance — maintain consistent product specifications and presentation across all locations and sales channels

· Leadership Development — recruit, train, coach and hold team and supervisors accountable for operational and financial performance

· Sales & Profitability — partner with ownership and leadership to grow revenue while improving margins and EBITDA

· Franchise Standards — ensure compliance with franchisor operating procedures, training requirements and brand standards

What We’re Looking For

Qualified candidates should have:

· 5+ years of senior operations leadership experience in bakery, food production, restaurant or specialty retail environments

· Hands-on bakery or commercial baking experience strongly preferred

· Experience managing multiple retail locations

· Strong understanding of food cost, labor management, production yields, waste and inventory

· Experience with commissary or centralized food production is highly desirable

· Experience with wholesale, catering or institutional foodservice is a plus

· Strong financial and P&L management skills

· Proven ability to develop managers and build accountable teams

· Strong organizational and communication skills

· Ability and willingness to work hands-on in both production and retail environments

· Flexibility to work early mornings and other hours necessary to understand and support bakery, retail, wholesale and delivery operations

· Spanish-speaking/bilingual preferred

· Ability to complete required franchisor and bakery operations training

Compensation & Benefits

Base Salary: $80,000 - $100,000 annually + Bonuses + Benefits

Competitive benefits package, with additional performance-based compensation opportunities available based on experience and achievement of operational and financial goals.

The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to take a significant leadership role in a growing organization with multiple revenue channels including retail stores, bakery production, wholesale distribution and catering.

We are looking for an operator who can move comfortably between the bakery floor, retail stores and the financial statements — someone who understands both how the product gets made and how the business makes money.

All inquiries and applications will be handled confidentially.
