JOB TITLE:  Multi-Unit Caffe Manager – Retail Operations

REPORTS TO:  Senior Manager & Regional Director - Retail Operations

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Multi-Unit Caffe Manager – Retail Operations is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the caffe front-of-house logistics and operations, and for providing ground support on behalf of Senior Leadership with the goal of building a strong team of hospitality-focused professionals. This person will be responsible for conveying and upholding the company vision and guiding principles, while inspiring their teams to do the same.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operations:
  • Coaches the team and implements systems and processes to manage growth across multiple locations.
  • Communicates regularly with Senior Leadership and warehouse/supply chain to ensure effective store operations and inventory management/control.
  • Assists in coordinating and scheduling all ongoing preventative maintenance and repair needs. 
  • Steps in as needed to ensure continued success of operations (Addresses staffing shortages, manager departures, administers manager/team training, including escalated coaching of managers to turn around a caffe, participates in and leads future caffe openings, etc.)
  • Identifies future leaders and fosters an environment of growth; builds a bench of top performers.
Financial Management:
  • Keeps COGS and labor costs within budgeted parameters. 
  • Understands and monitors the P&L, caffe cost-control methods, and inventory carrying costs to ensure bottom line effectiveness.
Business Management:
  • Creates status reports, business reviews, and inventory management reports.
  • Utilizes data and experience to identify and address trends and issues in store performance and category management.
Execution:
  • Provides daily in-store "air support" during high-volume periods to monitor and maintain overall drink and food quality, customer service, speed of service, staff deployment, and store cleanliness.
  • Conducts weekly store visits and provides constructive feedback to store management and team members.
  • Collaborates and communicates with other business functions (e.g., Marketing) to assist executing programs and initiatives (monthly promotions, sampling experiences, develop new product pipeline, create seasonal offers for our food and drink programs, etc.). Trains staff in executing these initiatives.
  • Is available on call to supervise others in situations when they occur.
HR Management:
  • Sets a positive example for the team by leading by example, managing with integrity and honesty, and promoting the company's culture, values, and mission.
  • Displays a customer-centric attitude by holding staff accountable for delivering quality products and customer service.
  • Monitors and manages store staffing levels to ensure successful operations.
  • Participates in talent acquisition (all caffes).
  • Provides coaching, motivation, and direction to create a high-performance team.
  • Provides formal annual performance review to all subordinate team members covering their strengths, areas needing improvement, and goals for the coming year.
  • Maintains employee records, monitors and helps shepherd employees through training programs, manages key milestones in a caffe employee’s career to ensure everyone stays on track (1,3,6-month check-ins and annual performance reviews).
  • Manages caffe managers as direct reports as assigned. 

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience. 
  • Minimum 5-7 years management experience in retail, food or hospitality; multi-unit management experience, a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead people at all levels of seniority.
  • Ability to zoom out and understand the big picture, while also zoom in and manage the day-to-day details as required.
  • Superior oral and written communications skills.
  • Meticulous organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage several concurrent tasks.
  • Proficient computer knowledge and experience, especially with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Revel POS.
  • Energetic and enthusiastic customer service-oriented professional.
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver license. 
  • Willingness and ability to frequently travel between all business locations.

The position is based at multiple locations and will be assigned as needed dependent on business needs.
