Job description

OVERVIEW
The Multi-Modality Technologist 1 will be competent and credentialed initially in Radiography with the credential in CT obtained within one year of hire. The incumbent will be able and willing to flex between them as needed.
Schedule: Two, 12-Hour Shifts
Shift: Nights 6p-6a
Location: Janesville Hospital and Trauma Center
Pay Range: $35.85-53.77
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintains active status in the modalities in which they practice.
  • Assists the department coordinator by providing clinical leadership, completes projects, advanced level clinical duties and regular assignments as requested.
  • Is competent in all exams performed within the assigned modalities.
  • Corroborates patient clinical history with procedure, ensuring information is documented and available for use by the radiologist.
  • Prepares the patient for procedures, providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
  • Selects and operates imaging equipment, image capture devices, and accessories to successfully perform procedures.
  • Positions patient to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort; immobilizes patient as necessary.
  • Practices aseptic technique as necessary,
  • Prepares and administers contrast media as appropriate to procedures performed; starts and maintains intravenous access.
  • Initiates basic life support action when necessary.
  • Provides patient education.
  • Provides input for supply and equipment decisions, maintains control of inventory and supplies for assigned area.
  • Provides practical instruction for students and partners.
  • Observes universal protocol, standard precautions and appropriate patient identifiers.
  • Applies principles of patient safety during all aspects of procedures, including assisting and transporting patients.
  • Other duties, tasks as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Graduate of an accredited radiography program
Two to four years of experience as a technologist as a Radiographer is required. Experience in a hospital environment preferred
CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE
ARRT registered in Radiography required; the CT credential is required within two years of hire
IEMA-DNS radiography accreditation required if working in Illinois
WI-DSPS radiographer license required if working in Wisconsin
BLS/CPR required within 90 days of hire
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Experience in working with radiologic technologists, radiologists and support staff in a multimodality department
  • Proficiency in mentoring employees and providing corrective action appropriately
  • Experience in obtaining departmental accreditation
  • Ability to communicate in a friendly and effective manner
  • Demonstrated ability to foster excellent teamwork in a radiology department
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to work independently
  • Read/comprehend written and verbal instructions
  • Basic PC skills
  • Manage stress appropriately
  • Make decisions under pressure and handle multiple priorities
  • Manage anger/fear/hostility/violence of others appropriately
