We are seeking a safety-focused and dependable Yard Mule Driver to support daily transportation and warehouse operations. You are responsible for safely moving trailers throughout the yard, positioning equipment at dock doors, and ensuring the efficient flow of inbound and outbound shipments. You play a critical role in maintaining yard organization, supporting warehouse productivity, and ensuring trailers are available when and where they are needed.

The Yard Mule Driver has experience operating yard trucks, spotting trailers, and working in fast-paced warehouse, distribution, or logistics environments. Success in this role requires strong situational awareness, a focus on safety, and the ability to communicate effectively with warehouse personnel, drivers, and supervisors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a yard mule (yard jockey/spotter truck) to move trailers throughout the facility
  • Position trailers at assigned dock doors for loading and unloading activities
  • Transport empty and loaded trailers between staging areas, parking locations, and docks
  • Inspect trailers for damage and report safety concerns or maintenance issues
  • Verify trailer numbers, seal numbers, and shipment information prior to movement
  • Maintain accurate records of trailer movements, yard activity, and equipment inspections
  • Coordinate with warehouse personnel, dispatchers, and supervisors to prioritize trailer movements
  • Conduct routine pre-trip and post-trip inspections of yard equipment
  • Monitor yard conditions and ensure trailers are parked safely and efficiently
  • Assist with trailer inventory management and yard organization
  • Follow all company safety policies, DOT regulations, and facility procedures
  • Support warehouse operations during peak periods as needed

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience operating a yard mule, yard jockey, spotter truck, or similar equipment preferred
  • Experience working in warehouse, distribution, logistics, transportation, or 3PL environments
  • Strong understanding of yard safety procedures and trailer movement operations
  • Ability to maneuver trailers safely in tight spaces and busy yard environments
  • Strong attention to detail when verifying trailer numbers, seals, and shipping documentation
  • Ability to communicate effectively with warehouse teams and transportation personnel
  • Dependable attendance and strong work ethic
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining productivity and safety standards

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required
