Job description

We’re hiring a licensed home inspector to assess the safety of clients’ properties! You’ll conduct building inspections, document any damages, and provide clients with a thorough inspection report. Compensation:

$50,000 - $70,000 yearly


Responsibilities:
  • Assist home buyers with any other requests regarding the home inspection to keep open lines of communication and adapt to meet their needs
  • Schedule inspections with property owner to ensure full access to the property
  • Flag specific repairs that might be needed, so homeowners can improve the property before it is sold
  • Estimate the potential cost to complete needed repairs, providing a range of options
  • Draft a comprehensive report, with photographs, to help home buyers and sellers understand exactly what the inspection revealed
  • Perform residential home inspections in accordance with TREC Standards of Practice and Harper Inspection Services procedures.
  • Inspect structural, roofing, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, interior, exterior, attic, and crawlspace components.
  • Deliver high-quality, same-day inspection reports using company software.
  • Clearly communicate inspection findings to clients in an easy-to-understand, educational manner.
  • Conduct client walkthroughs and answer questions regarding the condition of the property.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, photographs, temperature readings, water pressure readings, data plates, and other required report information.
  • Follow the Harper Inspection Method and all company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Walk roofs when safely accessible and inspect crawlspaces when safely accessible.
  • Utilize company equipment, including ladders, drones, thermal imaging cameras, moisture meters, and other inspection tools.
  • Identify opportunities for ancillary services such as WDI inspections, pool inspections, irrigation inspections, water well inspections, water quality testing, and mold-related services when appropriate.
  • Maintain professional relationships with clients, agents, contractors, and fellow team members.
  • Respond to calls, texts, and emails promptly and professionally.
  • Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and technology in clean and working condition.
  • Participate in continuing education, company training, ride-alongs, and professional development opportunities.
  • Adhere to company safety standards, quality assurance standards, and communication expectations.
  • Represent Harper Inspection Services professionally both on and off the job.

Qualifications:
  • Current U.S. driver’s license and the ability to travel by car
  • Must be able to manage very detailed aspects of the inspection and reporting process
  • 1+ year of previous work experience conducting home inspections or working in construction field
  • Strong multitasking skills and organizational skills
  • Experience with residential property maintenance, including plumbing, electric wiring, HVAC systems, security alarms, and more

Required Qualifications

  • Active TREC Professional Inspector License.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Ability to pass a drug screening.
  • Ability to obtain approval under the company's insurance policy.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Ability to work independently while following company procedures.
  • Ability to safely access roofs, attics, crawlspaces, and other inspection areas when conditions permit.
  • Ability to lift, carry, climb, bend, kneel, and perform the physical demands associated with home inspections.
  • Proficiency with computers, mobile devices, and inspection software.
  • Commitment to delivering same-day inspection reports.
  • Commitment to providing exceptional customer service.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous residential home inspection experience.
  • WDI (Wood Destroying Insect) License.
  • Mold Assessment Technician or Mold Assessment Consultant License.
  • Experience with thermal imaging equipment.
  • Experience with drones and aerial roof inspections.
  • Experience with crawlspace inspections.
  • Strong understanding of residential construction and building systems.
  • Customer service, sales, or client-facing experience.


Licensing Requirements After Hire

Employees who do not currently hold the following licenses must obtain them within six (6) months of employment:

  • Texas WDI License.
  • Texas Mold License (applicable license level as determined by company needs).

All approved continuing education costs and approved licensing expenses will be reimbursed upon successful completion.
