Location: Houston, Texas
Job Highlights:
The positions primary focus will be to act as the clients' representative on each site typically upholding the client's safety standard, environment polices and construction specification on the HDD site. The HDD inspector will be responsible for enhancing the efficiency of the construction and, where possible, identifying potential execution issues before the impacts are realized.
The HDD inspector will get the opportunity to work with an industry leading team within CCI, the highest quality of HDD contractors in North America and gain great exposure to North Americas largest oil and gas owner companies.
Accountabilities:
  • Act as the client's representative on site in a professional manner;
  • Review, monitor and report all applicable contract documents, codes, standards and legislation that apply to the scope of work and specifically the task being executed;
  • Actively participate in the Contractor's daily safety meetings including JSA's (Job Safety Analysis) and conduct CCI specific JSA, as well as complete Daily Inspection and HSE Reports;
  • Issue and monitor work authorization permits, documents complete with photographs, site and work activities and collect as-built information;
  • Monitor the Contractor's adherence to the HDD design and report any deviations to CCI's Construction Manager;
  • Report on rates of penetration, bit and reamer changes, steering corrections, lost circulation attempts and adjustments to the drilling plan, drill path changes, and operational changes;
  • Conduct a detailed safety checklist to ensure that the Contractor's equipment meets the industry safety standards and ensure that all equipment has the proper certifications;
  • Supervise the Contractor in the work pad and access development including equipment towing;
  • Monitor survey and centerline slashing for coil setup;
  • Complete the HDD Daily Inspection Report, HDD Drilling Fluid Report, HDD Steering Report on a daily basis and keep accurate records within the CCI job binder;
  • Coordination of Emergency Response Plan, orientations, collection of Contractor's employees' training certificates and contact list;
  • Keep track and record water withdrawal permits for construction;
  • Act as a liaison between the construction manager(s) and drilling contractor for any issues during the project.
  • Where required, collect samples of soils and/or cuttings for analysis: and
  • Perform mud checks multiple times per day to include mud weight, viscosity and sand content. Record and report these findings in the CCI provided mud report.
  • You will also perform such other duties and exercise such powers as may from time to time be assigned to you by the Company. You understand and agree that, on providing written notice, the Company, acting reasonably, has the right to introduce changes to your duties, position, location or compensation arrangements, and that such changes will not affect the application of this Agreement or constitute a wrongful dismissal.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years in HDD inspection or management
  • Formal education an asset, but not required
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel for reporting required
  • It is the responsibility of the employee to have all required safety training and tickets for each project they work on. A list of training required will be provided to the employee and must be completed within 3 days of signed offer letter or prior to mobilizing to site. These courses may include but not limited to: H2s, OSHA 30, First Aid, CPR, Confined space, API 1169., etc.
