Job description

Description
Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
  • EMT or OEC Certification Required
  • Perform trail checks, including but not limited to, unmarked obstacles, downed rope closures, bamboo, fence lines, etc.
  • Perform general on-mountain safety work, including but not limited to, maintaining tower pads, bamboo, rope, race closures, traffic control, removing debris, marking hazards, ushering snowcat, etc.
  • Carry out instructions from supervisory Patrol and Mountain Operations staff
  • Complete all required training
  • Perform end of day mountain sweeps
  • Perform accurate and appropriate incident reporting
  • Participate in ski or ride education programs
  • Adhere to all Echo Mountain and Patrol policies and procedures at all times
  • Report any unsafe conditions regarding equipment, work area or company property
  • Supervising and promoting guest safety on varied terrain in high altitude, with varying winter weather conditions
  • Assisting injured guests on the mountain and administering first aid
  • Transporting injured guests off the mountain using a toboggan or supporting airlift operations
  • Transporting supplies and heavy equipment to areas of need, on skis or snowboard
  • Ensure the management / GM is immediately informed on all unusual conditions, incidents, or system malfunctions
  • Enforcement of the Responsibility Code and Resort Policies
  • Chairlift guest evacuation
  • Ability to safely operate authorized vehicles
  • Other duties as assigned

Environment & Physical Requirements:
  • Ski or snowboard at an advanced level with good judgement, control and confidence (subject to approval by Echo Mtn Leadership)
  • Subject to working in a crowded, fast paced environment with long periods of walking, standing, and skiing or snowboarding
  • Can work indoors and outdoors with adverse weather conditions in a high alpine, wintery environment
  • Can perform the following activities constantly: walking, using hands to finger/feel, reaching with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Speaking & Hearing: Ability to speak and hear adequately to perform job functions in adverse weather conditions and while wearing appropriate attire and protection
  • Vision: Ability to see up close, at a distance, peripherally, and accurately determine depth; ability to adjust focus
  • Regularly work in adverse conditions and required to use protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces
  • Frequently lift, push, carry or pull up to 100 pounds

Requirements
Wage: $21 - $24/hr., Dependent on Experience; End of Season bonus potential for FTE & PTE who meet employment, attendance and conduct standards.
