What a day on this team looks like
You start with a thorough pre-trip: inspect tires, lights, brakes, fuel, oil, and water; confirm your CDL and vehicle meet all state and federal DOT requirements. You review the router, match purchase orders and shipping paperwork, and make sure MTM Travelers with the correct status are attached to every load to maintain full traceability.
Once secured with tie-downs and tarps, you head out—sometimes in a wide-load escort vehicle or up to a 20,000‑lb box truck, and as assignments require, up to a 54,000‑lb flatbed—navigating using your knowledge of commercial driving regulations and local roads. You stay in touch by phone or radio for delivery instructions, keep an accurate driver log, and upon arrival you may load/unload, prepare receipts, and collect payment for delivered goods and any delivery charges.
If something unexpected happens, you’re ready for basic roadside fixes—changing a tire, installing a light bulb or fuse, adding tire chains, even swapping a spark plug—and you report incidents or accidents per procedure. Throughout, you safeguard process control and documentation so every shipment remains traceable.
