Job Title: MTA Safety Manager
Location: Various MTA projects across NYC

Duration: Permanent position

Role and Responsibilities:
The MTA Site Safety Manager will be responsible for the management of all safety and security matters. You will maintain a daily Site Safety Log and all safety-related activities including feedback from the competent persons. Including but not limited to, enforcing compliance with regulations and reviewing health and safety guidelines to minimize injuries.
  • The SM shall participate in the development of and approve the APP, sign the APP, continually monitor the Design-Builder’s implementation of, and adherence to, the APP, and shall revise the APP when required by field conditions or by MTA C&D.
  • Prepare a Daily Safety Report for all site security and safety matters documenting all safety-related activities, safety deficiencies, and corrective actions.
  • Maintain the Daily Safety Reports at the Work Site for review and inspection.
  • Assign responsibilities for the Daily Safety Reports to Safety Coordinators as appropriate.
  • Completion of any safety documentation, plans, or safety reports.
  • Attendance at any safety-related meetings.
  • Develop and provide training for Design-Builder, Subcontractor, and MTA personnel to improve safety at the Work Sites.
  • Comply with all NYCT specific-safety rules and requirements.
  • Perform any actions required prior to the performance of Work under a Signal Bulletin.
  • Supervise the Safety Coordinators.
Required Skills, Certifications, and Experience:
  • 5+ years relevant safety experience
  • OSHA 30 Hr.
  • NYC DOB 40 Hr SSM License
  • NYS DOL Asbestos Inspector
  • SSPC C3/C5
  • NYCT Track Trained
  • 90 Day Right of Way
  • ASSP Membership
  • Must be MTA Site Safety Manager with experience as the head of safety on at least one (1) transit, commuter rail, or design-build project.
