What is an MSP Tech?

MSP Techs, or Managed Service Provider Technicians, are IT professionals who work for companies that manage and support the technology needs of other businesses. They handle tasks such as monitoring networks, troubleshooting technical issues, managing software updates, and ensuring cybersecurity for clients. MSP Techs play a crucial role in keeping client systems running smoothly and securely, often providing remote and on-site support. Their work helps businesses maintain optimal IT performance without needing an in-house IT staff.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an MSP Tech, and why are they important?

To thrive as an MSP Tech, you need a solid background in IT support, networking, and troubleshooting, often backed by certifications like CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft certifications. Familiarity with remote monitoring and management (RMM) tools, ticketing systems, and cloud platforms such as Office 365 is typically required. Excellent customer service, effective communication, and problem-solving skills help MSP Techs build trust and resolve client issues efficiently. These competencies ensure prompt, reliable IT support and client satisfaction in a fast-paced managed services environment.

What are some common challenges faced by MSP Techs when managing multiple client environments, and how can they be addressed?

MSP Techs often juggle multiple client environments with different infrastructures, software, and requirements, making time management and prioritization key challenges. Staying organized with robust documentation and using remote monitoring and management tools helps streamline workflows and minimize errors. Regular communication with clients and internal teams is essential to quickly address issues and set realistic expectations. Additionally, ongoing training on new technologies and cybersecurity practices can help MSP Techs stay ahead of potential problems and provide proactive support.

What is the difference between Msp Tech vs Network Technician?

AspectMsp TechNetwork Technician

Work EnvironmentManaged service providers, client sites, remote supportCorporate offices, data centers, client sites
Industry UsageIT service providers, MSP companiesIT departments, telecom companies, network providers

Both roles require networking certifications and involve working with network hardware and systems. Msp Tech typically works within managed service providers offering a broad range of IT support, while Network Technicians focus specifically on network infrastructure. The roles overlap in skills but differ in scope and work environment.

How to get a job at MSP Tech?

To get a job at MSP Tech, candidates should review the company's career page for open positions, prepare a resume highlighting relevant IT skills and certifications such as CompTIA or Cisco, and demonstrate experience in managed services or technical support during the interview process. Networking within the industry and gaining experience with common tools like remote monitoring and management (RMM) platforms can also improve chances of employment.

Description

Director of Information Technology - Job Description

At Aradius Group, technology is more than a support function-it's a key part of how we grow, innovate, and serve our customers. We're looking for a strategic, hands-on Director of IT to lead our technology roadmap, strengthen our systems, and help teams work smarter through automation and connected business processes.

This role partners with our Managed Service Provider (MSP), department leaders, and technology vendors to ensure our systems are secure, reliable, and built to support the future of the business.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop and lead the company's technology strategy, aligning systems and projects with business goals and operational priorities.
  • Partner with department leaders to identify workflow challenges, technology gaps, and opportunities for automation and process improvement.
  • Serve as the primary business owner for the MSP relationship, ensuring infrastructure, cybersecurity, support, and service levels meet the needs of the organization.
  • Manage technology vendors, contracts, and system partnerships while helping define ownership and accountability across platforms.
  • Lead automation and business systems initiatives that connect people, processes, applications, and data across the company.
  • Design and support integrations between core business platforms, including our Management Information System (MIS), accounting, CRM, Microsoft 365, production, shipping, reporting, and other operational systems.
  • Identify and eliminate manual processes by implementing automation, reporting tools, dashboards, AI-enabled solutions, and system improvements.
  • Oversee technology governance, including system documentation, user access, change management, data integrity, and technology asset management.
  • Lead the organization's HITRUST, SOC 2, and HIPAA compliance efforts while supporting customer, vendor, and internal technology requirements.
  • Partner with the MSP to strengthen cybersecurity, disaster recovery, business continuity planning, and infrastructure lifecycle management.
  • Lead cross-functional technology projects from planning and implementation through training, adoption, and long-term success.
  • Provide leadership with visibility into IT performance, project status, technology risks, and opportunities to improve efficiency across the business.

Who We Are Looking For:

  • A strategic thinker who enjoys solving business problems through technology.
  • Someone who can connect technical solutions with real operational needs.
  • A collaborative leader who builds strong relationships across departments and with external partners.
  • An organized project manager who can balance competing priorities and drive initiatives forward.
  • A continuous learner who embraces innovation, automation, and process improvement.

What You Bring:

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in IT leadership, business systems, systems integration, automation, DevOps, data/reporting, or technology project management.
  • Experience working with a Managed Service Provider (MSP) or vendor-managed IT environment.
  • Hands-on experience improving workflows, connecting applications, automating manual processes, and supporting business-critical platforms.
  • Experience leading technology projects, change management initiatives, and user adoption efforts.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365, cloud services, cybersecurity best practices, backup and disaster recovery concepts, ERP/MIS platforms, databases, reporting tools, and workflow automation technologies.
  • Experience with tools such as Power Automate, Power BI, SQL, APIs, scripting, AI-enabled tools, or similar integration platforms is preferred.
  • Experience in a workflow-driven environment, such as printing, manufacturing, distribution, logistics, or a similar operational setting, is strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication, documentation, vendor management, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.

Reasons you'll love working here:

  • Reliable and Flexible Hours: We will give you a schedule you can count on.
  • Career Development: We invest in you. Setting you up for success and learning from industry experts. See where your journey can take you.
  • Perks: Company Profit Sharing Program, Business Expense, & Mileage Reimbursement.
