Job Description:

Under supervision, investigates, counsels and provides continuous supervision for adult or juvenile probationers or parolees to assist in their social and personal adjustment.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

• Aids in making plans for helping offenders with life adjustments.
• Counsel's probationers or parolees via office visits, employment visits, telephone inquiries, community contacts and correspondence.
• Informs offenders or inmates of requirements of conditional release, such as office visits, restitution payments, or educational and employment stipulations.
• Investigates activities of probationers or parolees to ascertain their level of readjustment to society.
• Investigates background histories of probationers or parolees; review court files, police reports and other pertinent reports to gather information.
• May testify in court concerning matters pertaining to clients such as sentencing, trials, pleas and violations of probation or parole conditions.
• Monitors and conducts surveillance of probationers/parolees
• Provides offenders with assistance in matters concerning detainees, sentences in other jurisdictions, and writs.
• Writes reports detailing clients' progress and other reports/paperwork as necessary accurately completing them within established time frame.
• Performs arrests of parolees who have violated the terms of their release, in accordance with statutory requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Note:Must possess and maintain State of Georgia P.O.S.T. certification within the first (6) months of employment.

Physical Agility Standards:

This position requires the ability to perform physically demanding activities associated with maintaining safety and security within our secured facilities and community settings. Candidates must be capable of meeting agency-established physical agility standards and may be required to successfully complete a validated physical agility assessment before hiring and at other intervals as required by agency policy.

The Department of Juvenile Justice reserves the right to modify physical agility standards and testing requirements as necessary to meet operational, legal, accreditation, certification, or safety requirements.
