Job description

Client is seeking a MSSQL Database Administrator (DBA). This role requires close partnership and collaboration with other Data Engineers and Subject Matter Experts. This candidate needs to maintain best practices and collaborates with the architecture and application teams to set the technical vision and target architecture. This candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management of MSSQL Databases in AWS EC2 instance. This role requires deep knowledge of SQL database administration and AWS services, particularly related to daily operations of maintenance, performance tuning, and high availability.Required Qualifications and Key Requirements :
  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent required from an accredited institution. Will also consider three years of progressive experience in the specialty in lieu of every year of education
  • At least 6 years of Information Technology experience
  • At least 5 years of experience in MS SQL server administration and maintenance
  • Able to install and configure the MS SQL Server, configure the SQL clustering/ SQL Always On Availability Groups on AWS environment
  • Able to do the capacity planning based on the growth pattern of the databases
  • Have expert troubleshooting skills on the SQL Clustering (Always On) environment.
  • Monitor, maintain database systems and troubleshoot problems that may arise
  • Strong Analytic skills, Data Modelling & Performance tuning.
  • Perform Upgrade of databases to different versions of SQL and migration of databases from SQL server to PostgreSQL
  • Maintain data integrity and security (manage roles and permissions of database users)
  • Use tools like SQL Profiler for database tuning.
  • Generate traces, execution plans, identify performance issues, deadlocks/contention and resolve them
  • Develop strategies and implement solutions for managing back-ups, restoration and replication
  • Should be well versed with the SQL replication functions and Change Data capture process
  • Create and manage stats and indexes
  • Ensure timely completion of the Databases regular refreshes keeping all the reporting environment in sync
  • Create detailed documentation including diagrams of database infrastructure
  • Monitor database health and performance using tools like pgAdmin, AWS CloudWatch, and other monitoring solutions.
  • Configure and manage PostgreSQL on AWS
  • Utilize AWS services such as S3, IAM, CloudWatch, and DMS for database operations and migration.
  • Design and implement disaster recovery strategies, including Multi-AZ deployments and failover configurations.
  • Learn relevant business processes and understand the data flow, criticality and dependencies
  • Utilize Terraform, Harness pipelines to deploy the codes
  • Automate the routine DB management activities.
