In this role, the individual will develop relational and object-oriented databases, database parser and loading software, and project long-range requirements for database administration and design. The position involves developing database structures aligned with overall system architecture, making trade-offs among data volumes, user populations, distribution, response times, retention rules, security, and domain controls, while supporting the lifecycle from requirements through system acceptance testing and Initial Operational Capability. • Must have the ability to translate requirements and data into a usable database schema by creating or recreating ad hoc queries, scripts, and macros, updating existing queries, and creating new queries to manipulate data into a master file.
  • Must possess the ability to develop database structures that fit within the overall architecture of the system under development.
  • Must be capable of developing requirement recommendations from project inception through project conclusion for specific business and information technology subject matter areas, supporting systems ranging from simple to complex.

  • Must have five years of experience as a Database Engineer supporting programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity, or nine years of Database Engineer experience if no bachelor's degree is held.
  • Must have a bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university, or four additional years of Database Engineer experience may be substituted for the degree.
