About the Role
The MRO Buyer in Jackson, MO serves as a critical link in maintaining operational continuity by ensuring the timely procurement and availability of maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) materials, supplies, and services. This role manages thousands of items ranging from production equipment spare parts to facility and janitorial supplies, helping minimize downtime and support efficient plant operations. The position works closely with maintenance, engineering, operations, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to deliver cost-effective procurement solutions while maintaining compliance with Mondi procurement, quality, and safety standards.
Your Mission
โ€ข Ensure critical spare parts and MRO inventory are available to support uninterrupted manufacturing operations and minimize production downtime.
โ€ข Process purchase requisitions accurately and efficiently, providing research and recommendations to internal stakeholders as needed.
โ€ข Source and negotiate with suppliers to obtain competitive pricing, favorable terms, and reliable service for MRO products and maintenance services.
โ€ข Build and maintain strong relationships with local, global, and specialized suppliers to ensure responsive support during operational emergencies.
โ€ข Collaborate closely with maintenance, engineering, and operations teams to understand business needs and align procurement activities.
โ€ข Request, evaluate, and maintain supplier quotations in accordance with Mondi procurement policies and legal requirements.
โ€ข Create, issue, and administer purchase orders and framework agreements from requisition through receipt of goods and services.
โ€ข Resolve supplier performance issues, delivery concerns, quality discrepancies, and customer complaints proactively and independently.
โ€ข Apply Total Cost of Ownership principles when evaluating sourcing decisions, considering factors such as freight, inventory, maintenance, and supplier performance.
โ€ข Maintain SAP purchasing master data, including purchasing information records, condition records, lead times, pricing, freight conditions, and Incoterms.
โ€ข Ensure supplier contracts, SAP pricing information, and source lists remain synchronized and compliant with current agreements.
โ€ข Partner with Accounts Payable to resolve invoice discrepancies, pricing issues, tax updates, and supplier banking changes.
โ€ข Support Mondi's quality, safety, and chemical approval processes, ensuring procurement activities comply with established standards.
โ€ข Manage supplier risk by collecting, reviewing, and maintaining Certificates of Insurance (COI) to ensure compliance with company requirements.
Your Profile
โ€ข Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Purchasing, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
โ€ข Minimum of 2-3 years of MRO purchasing or procurement experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
โ€ข Experience negotiating pricing, contracts, and supplier agreements.
โ€ข Strong understanding of purchasing processes, inventory management, and supplier relationship management.
โ€ข SAP purchasing experience highly preferred.
โ€ข Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
โ€ข Strong analytical and mathematical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
โ€ข Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
โ€ข Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
โ€ข Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments.
