Job Summary and Qualifications
  • Demonstrate the ability to obtain quality MRI images of patients.
  •  Complies with MRI safety guidelines for patients, staff and self. 
  • Operates MRI equipment safety including screening all patients for contraindications. 
  • Demonstrates the ability to perform all necessary computer operations. 
  • Render patient care in a professional and courteous manner and always identifies patients utilizing the proper protocols. 
  • Prepare MRI scanner and perform quality control tests. 
  • Assist the radiology nurse or radiologist in administering medication, contrast agents, and all types of care to the patient during MRI procedures. 
  • Reviews each exam for technical accuracy and identifies anatomical orientation on all images. 
  • Demonstrates willingness to assist in additional duties. 
  • Maintains work area in a clean and orderly manner. 
  • Maintains strict confidentiality regarding employees and patients. 
  • Completes and maintains educational requirements. 
What qualifications you will need:

EXPERIENCE: 

  • Required: Minimum of 1 year experience as MRI Technologist. 
  • Preferred: Multiple yearsโ€™ experience as a certified staff MRI Technologist 

EDUCATION: 

  • Required: Graduate of accredited approved School of Radiologic Technology. Responsible for continuing education credits as mandated by the ARRT for licensure. 

LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATION: 

  • Required: American Registry of Radiologic Technology OR ARRT-MRI Technology (6-month grace period) OR American Registry of MRI Technology ARMRIT (6-month grace period) 
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers through AHA or CPR through American Red Cross (30-day grace period) 
  • Preferred: American Society of Radiologic Technology Virginia Society of Radiologic Technology
