Radiology Tech - MRI Tech

The MRI Tech operates magnetic resonance imaging equipment to acquire high-quality diagnostic images. The role involves patient screening for safety, positioning, protocol selection, and monitoring during scans within hospital or imaging center settings.

The technician collaborates with radiologists and other clinicians to meet imaging needs while ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout the procedure.

Responsibilities
  • Screen patients for MRI safety and contraindications; verify orders
  • Position patients, select coils and sequences, and perform MRI exams per protocol
  • Monitor patients during scanning, responding to any adverse events or patient discomfort
  • Ensure high-quality images with appropriate sequence selection and parameter adjustments
  • Prepare and maintain MRI equipment and accessories, including safety protocols for implants
  • Document imaging procedures and results in the EMR and coordinate with radiologists
  • Assist with contrast administration as required by protocol and institutional guidelines
  • Educate patients on the procedure and post-scan expectations
Qualifications

Education:

Associate degree in Radiologic Technology or related field; MRI specialty training or certification preferred.

Licensure:

State licensure or certification as a Radiologic Technologist with MRI specialization where required.

Certifications:

  • ARRT Certification in Radiography (R) and MRI (MR)
  • CPR/BLS
