Summary: MRI Technologist (PRN - Saturday Mobile Unit) Under the direction of the department manager, staff technologist shall perform interpretive diagnostic studies as ordered by the referring physician/provider. Technologist shall exhibit quality patient care, and utilize patient and staff safety measures when choosing technical factors to insure proper magnetic resonance imaging and/or radiologic imaging and/or computed tomography diagnostic studies. . Participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities. This position may be asked to work at other NCCH-designated work location or sites as needed.  ***Position is PRN working coverage on Saturday for Mobile Unit***

This position requires a commitment to teamwork, collaboration and department scheduling needs i.e. good attendance, attitude, customer services, communication skills, etc.,

Special Conditions:  Position is Safety Sensitive / Drug Free Workplace / COVID Vaccination Requirements.

Supervision Received: Works under the direct supervision of the Imaging/Radiology Manager or designated administrator. Exercises progressive levels of autonomy in day-to-day activities based on satisfactory job performance.

Essential Functions: 

Provides safe and appropriate patient care while performing diagnostic studies ordered by the patientas physician/provider.

Assists radiologist with full patient history and proper tools for exams

Completes all exams fully -- including paperwork and billing procedures.

Confirms and compares correct patient exam information to minimize discrepancies

Maintains clean, organized, and properly stocked exam rooms.

Captures clear diagnostic images of patients by using proper equipment, techniques, and positions.

Relies on extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and effects of disease processes to properly and safely position the patient for maximum diagnostic yield.

Utilizes knowledge of all safety measures for protection of patients and staff while administering megnetic resonance imaging and/or equipment.

Responsible for providing services in MRI modalities.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Associate degree from accredited school of Radiology or certificate from accredited Radiography program required.
  • 1 year experience working in MRI in a hospital setting preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Current, unrestricted Arizona CRT license. 
  • Current national certification (ARRT) (R). MRI extended registry if certified. 
  • Current MRI certification preferred but if not certified at hire then certification must be obtained within 2 years of hire. 

    CT extended registry if certified. Current CT certification preferred.

    BLS Certification (American Heart Association) upon date of hire.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Extensive knowledge of radiographic procedures, magnetic resonance imaging procedures, computed tomography procedures, patient care, and sufficient knowledge of computer technology.

Ability to maintain and develop professional and technical knowledge by reviewing professional publications, attending workshops, and other educational opportunities.

Knowledge of HIPAA privacy requirements and medical terminology.

Establish and maintain solid working relationships through communication, cooperation, and positive interactions with all patients/clients, employees, staff, providers, and vendors.

Willingness to work a flexible schedule, as needed.

Demonstrated ability to self-motivate and work independently with limited supervision.

Strong customer service skills along with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Positive communication skills; ability to successfully interact with all customers; continuous demonstration of courteous, cooperative and service orientated behavior.

Supports and maintains a culture of safety, quality and positive patient experience.
