Job description

Department: MRI

Shift/schedule: Contingent (works as needed)

GENERAL SUMMARY

Work under the supervision of the MRI Manager. The MRI Support Assistant 's primary job function is to safely prepare patients for their MRI. Works closely with the MRI Technologist, completing MRI Safety Screening, positioning patients, and transporting when necessary. Assisting the MRI Technologist with patients.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

• High School Diploma or successful completion of an equivalent High School Exam Required/

Licensure:

• BLS within 90 days of hire required.

Experience:

• One to three months of on-the-job training. Previously Radiology experience preferred.

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

The following is a summary of the major job duties of this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.

1. Greets and assists the customer (patients, patient’s family, visitors, co-workers, physicians ) in a positive,

professional and courteous manner.

2. Performs patient history and screening pertaining to MRI exam ordered.

3. Input information into the PACS system and EHR.

4. Performs computer functions and scanning of documents.

5. Prepares patient for exam.

6. Assists the Technologist with patient positioning and selects appropriate coils and positioning devices.

7. Performs patient transport to and from MRI, inputs information into RIS.

8. Monitors and orders 02 supplies, completes daily safety check-off list, which includes monitoring of blanket warmer temperatures, reaction box, and eye wash solution.

9. Maintains knowledge of equipment and computer systems.

10. Monitors patients while in patient holding area.

11. Maintains cleanliness of equipment, work and break area.

12. Behaves in a professional manner at all times.

13. Acknowledges and adheres to the “Standards of Behavior” handbook.

14. Performs other duties as assigned.
