What are MPs?

MPs, or Members of Parliament, are elected representatives who serve in the legislative body of a country, such as the House of Commons in the United Kingdom. Their main responsibilities include debating and passing laws, representing the interests of their constituents, and holding the government to account. MPs participate in committees, question government ministers, and help shape national policy. They are elected by the public during general elections and typically serve for fixed terms, depending on the country’s electoral system.

Familiarity with print management software, multifunction printers, and monitoring tools is typically required. Strong problem-solving skills, effective communication, and a proactive approach are crucial soft skills in this role. These skills ensure efficient print environments, minimize downtime, and deliver responsive client service in business settings.

What are some common challenges faced by MPs when balancing constituency work with parliamentary duties?

Members of Parliament (MPs) often face the challenge of effectively balancing their time between legislative responsibilities in parliament and serving the needs of their constituents. Constituency issues can vary widely and require MPs to be accessible and responsive, while parliamentary duties such as attending debates, committee meetings, and voting sessions demand significant time in the capital. Effective MPs usually develop strong time management skills and rely on a dedicated team to support both roles, but finding the right balance can be demanding, especially during peak legislative periods or when urgent local matters arise.

Job description

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we're the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.

We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain - and we're looking for talented people who want to help.
You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You'll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers.

And you'll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.
Within AIS and Data Center Engineering, the Mechanical Solutions team is driving rapid innovation in Mechanical Cooling and Controls systems used by AWS. Our designs are fundamentally changing the Data Center, providing operational and financial benefits that are critical to the success of the AWS business, and its millions of customers. Our engineers solve challenging technology problems and take big bets on new concepts enabling AWS services to continue to revolutionize the industry

This role provides the opportunity to engage with and lead the Sustaining or Product Lifecycle Engineering aspect for these advanced cloud infrastructure solutions and the exceptional people that develop them.
AWS is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to be part of a global engineering team responsible for ownership and continuous improvement related to Mechanical (Cooling) infrastructure products within our rapidly expanding data center footprint.
We are looking for engineers with hands on Mechanical and Manufacturing experience of Mechanical (Cooling) products.

If you have experience leading product design of Mechanical products, have an understanding of Mechanical Systems, and know how products should be manufactured to ensure quality you may be a good fit. You should be capable of understanding detailed Mechanical equipment specifications and evaluating the merit and risks of design changes.
As a Global Amazon Product Lifecycle Engineer, you will provide Mechanical infrastructure support to AWS data centers. You will collaborate with the product development team to gain deep understanding of all facets of each product as they are being developed and tested, and then have engineering ownership of the product through its operational life

You will be a global 'go-to' engineering resource for Mechanical AWS products deployed in data centers.
Amazon has a global presence. Intermittent travel will be necessary and should be expected to be around 30%. While most travel will be domestic, some international travel may be necessary.
Key job responsibilities
Possess strong engineering judgement and ability to provide recommendations despite uncertainty
Are detail and data oriented
Have experience in Mechanical Engineering and/or Mechanical Products
Review, update, and approve equipment submittals
Work with global mechanical equipment suppliers and manufacturers
Build trust and relationships with different stakeholders (e.g

reliability, operations, design, compliance)
Work on concurrent projects, in multiple geographic zones
Understand and explain complex systems in clear and concise language
Support Operations including failure mode and root cause analysis, maintenance and troubleshooting support, and operating procedure review for both mechanical and electrical issues.
Listen to the voice of the customer to understand if there are improvements that can be made to increase product reliability or availability.
Work with global supplier and manufacturers to design product improvements, and to oversee root cause analysis.
Contribute to our global body of knowledge and drive a cycle of continuous improvement at a global scale
If you meet these qualifications, exude passion, and enjoy the challenge of innovative projects at hyper-scale, this job is for you!
A day in the life
Our MPS Product Lifecycle Engineers (PLE) work closely with key partners to innovate, create, manage, and support the end to end life sustaining of AWS Mechanical products.
This team will collaborate with internal partner teams to ensure the product performs as intended per design and leads remediation efforts when it does not. The MS PLE team is responsible for product sustaining at Scale Readiness and working with internal teams to identify design issues then remediate by working with necessary design teams, the design vendor and/or the contract manufacturer (when applicable)

About the team
The Mechanical Products & Services team provides engineering expertise and design and product lifecycle support for mechanical equipment in data centers globally. This includes support for new products and design features that address the mechanical cooling systems included in data center deployments. We own and support mechanical products throughout their lifecycle.

Our scope also includes emergent global scale remediation strategic efforts that impact Data Center capacity or availability and introducing and driving business improvement initiatives increasing visibility and enabling data driven decision making.
