The Opportunity:
The Folder Gluer Utility Operator supports production by ensuring folder/gluer machines are continuously supplied with materials and that the work area remains clean, safe, and well-organized. This role plays a critical part in maintaining workflow efficiency, meeting production schedules, and ensuring finished products meet quality and shipping requirements. A typical day includes staging jobs, handling materials, assisting operators, maintaining inventory of supplies, and supporting overall production operations.
How You Will Impact Smurfit Westrock:
  • Ensure folder/gluer machines are consistently supplied to prevent production delays.
  • Stage jobs according to die requirements and due dates to support on-time delivery.
  • Prepare skids, shipper boxes, labels, and paperwork for staged and completed jobs.
  • Transport, organize, and label finished skids according to shipment schedules.
  • Assist with hand stripping, gathering, and other production support activities as needed.
  • Maintain accurate production flow charts and schedule boards.
  • Monitor and restock shipper boxes, chipboard, tape, and glue to support operations.
  • Operate motorized lifts safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe folder/gluer work area.
  • Verify labels and documentation to ensure accuracy of finished products.

What You Need to Succeed:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of six months of related work experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and documentation.
  • Ability to perform intermediate arithmetic including decimals, fractions, and ratios.
  • Ability to meet or exceed minimum mechanical aptitude test requirements.
  • Ability to disassemble, clean, and reassemble a glue pot.
  • Ability to operate motorized lifts safely.
  • Strong attention to detail when checking labels and paperwork.
  • Reliable attendance and flexibility to work overtime as required.
  • Ability to perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
This position requires standing, walking, talking, seeing, and hearing throughout the workday. Employees frequently bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push and pull materials, and perform repetitive hand movements. The role involves lifting up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 25 pounds occasionally. Special vision requirements include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
