Einstein Moving Company

Houston, TX

Job description

WARNING: This will be the best job post you read all day.

Actually, why don't you just go ahead and make it the only job post you read all day, mkaaaayy?

*sips coffee*

Here's the deal: We're a moving company. We pick up people's stuff and carry it from one place to a different place.

Sounds simple enough… but it turns out that to be REALLY GOOD movers (the only kind worth being, in our opinion) we need REALLY GOOD people for our Houston branch.

People like you. ;)

And because really good people like you deserve to be paid well and treated with respect, we put together this pretty kickass compensation package.
FIRST, A WORD ABOUT "HOURLY PAY" IN THE MOVING INDUSTRY
Some moving companies advertise $25/hr but only pay you for "billable" time — meaning the hours you spend driving to jobs, loading trucks, and waiting between moves don't count.

Quick math: If you work an 8-hour day but only 6 hours are "billable," that "$25/hour" is actually $18.75. And it gets worse when overtime kicks in.

At Einstein, you're paid from clock-in to clock-out.

Every. Single. Hour.

No asterisks, no funny math. When we tell you what you'll earn, we mean it.

Here's what that actually looks like:
YOUR MONEY (THE FUN PART)
We'll be straight with you. Here's every dollar:

  • $19/hr base in training. $20/hr base once you're a Lead. That's the guaranteed floor — paid for every hour you're on the clock, not just "billable" ones.

  • Plus tips. Typically $5–$8/hr. (Movers who actually give a damn make more.)

  • Plus performance bonuses once you're out of training. Up to $3/hr.

  • Plus $5/hr any time we call you in last-minute.

  • Plus overtime on hours over 40.

Stack it all up and a typical week looks like:

Lead in Training: $25–$27.50/hr. Lead: $27.50–$32.25/hr. Top performers earn more.

And Leads aren't a dead-end. 4 promotion tiers ahead of you. Your pay grows with you.
THE REST OF THE PACKAGE

  • W2 Status (Not 1099) — Full employee benefits including Workers' Comp, overtime protections, and the warm fuzzy feeling of being a real employee. Plus, Einstein covers half of employment taxes (as a 1099 you'd be on the hook for 100%).

  • Affordable Health Insurance including medical, vision and dental, because your eyes and teeth are important.

  • Short-Term Disability — because sometimes life happens and your bills keep coming even when you can't work.

  • 401(k) with 4% Match — it's cheesy, but we love helping you plan for your future.

  • Flexible Vacation — you're a grown-up. Tell us when you'll be gone and enjoy yourself.

  • Paid Parental & Bereavement Leave — because your family and community matter. 5 days paid parental leave to start, expanding to 10 after one year. 2 days bereavement.

In case you don't feel like doing the math, that all adds up to a "Hell Yeah".
FOUR MORE REASONS TO JOIN OUR FUN-LOVING CREW

  • Flexible Schedule — Great for musicians, students, entrepreneurs, athletes, and anyone else who likes mixing it up.

  • Ditch the Desk Job — Spend more time outside, and stay in shape (or casually get ripped) with a job where every day is different.

  • Advance Within the Company — 96% of our managers started as movers, walking the same ladder you'd walk. Not to brag, but we've made the Inc. 5000 list seven years running. People tell us that's a big deal.

  • Good People & Great Culture — There's a reason folks don't want to leave once they start. Branch competitions, Legend of the Week shoutouts, company trips — we take recognizing great work seriously.

WHAT A TYPICAL DAY LOOKS LIKE
You'll show up, meet your crew, grab your truck, and head to the job.

Some days you're loading up a studio apartment in 2 hours. Other days you're wrapping a 5-bedroom house with a massive book collection and a sculpture garden. You'll problem-solve on the fly, work with your team, talk to customers, and yeah — you'll sweat. A lot.

But you'll also laugh, build real friendships, and go home knowing you actually helped someone through one of the most stressful days of their life.

It's more rewarding than you'd expect.
YOUR MUST-HAVES

  • Ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull heavy objects (up to 125 lbs overhead, 200 lbs independently, and 500 lbs in coordination with teammates) frequently throughout an 8+ hour day

  • 21 years of being alive on this planet (so we can put you on our insurance)

  • At least two years of personal driving experience with an acceptable driving record (no major violations in the last 3 years)

  • Ability to pass a criminal background check, physical, and drug screen

  • Excellent customer service skills, interest in learning new things, and motivation to be genuinely helpful

  • Availability to work 3+ days a week — even better if you can work Thursday–Sunday (our busiest days = more hours & tips)

  • Your own reliable transportation (a car, motorcycle, or scooter — not a bike, not a bus pass)

YOUR NICE-TO-HAVES

  • College degree or current enrollment (a bonus, definitely not required)

  • Moving experience (more than just "exited the womb once")

  • A friendly pet (so we can pet them at our next company picnic)

WHEN YOU'D START
Like, right now. We're growing fast (but mindfully), and looking to fill open positions with great people.
ONE LAST THING
This is a physically demanding job that requires hard work. No bones about it: you'll break a sweat every day. (On the plus side, you can go ahead and cancel your gym membership.)

If you love working with teammates who always have each other's backs, for a company that actually cares about treating its people well — you'll love working at Einstein.

Rated 4.9 stars across 8,000+ reviews. You can't fake that.
