What is a moulding job?

Moulding jobs involve shaping materials such as plastic, metal, or rubber into specific forms using a mould. Workers in this field operate and maintain moulding machines, monitor the production process, and ensure that finished products meet quality standards. They may also set up equipment, troubleshoot issues, and perform routine maintenance. Moulding is commonly used in manufacturing industries to produce parts for automotive, construction, packaging, and consumer goods.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a moulding technician?

To thrive as a Moulding Technician, you need a solid understanding of manufacturing processes, quality control, and mechanical aptitude, usually supported by a high school diploma or technical training. Familiarity with injection moulding machines, CAD software, and safety protocols is typically required, and certifications such as RJG or similar are advantageous. Attention to detail, problem-solving, and effective teamwork are vital soft skills in this role. Mastering these skills ensures efficient production, minimizes defects, and maintains a safe and productive work environment.
