Job description

Position Title: Plant Controller
Reports To: Director of Finance
Location: Holland, MI
Own the Financial Performance of a $100M+ Manufacturing Operation
People First. Safety is the Foundation.
At Motus, we are driving innovation in manufacturing through precision, quality, and continuous improvement. We are seeking a high-impact Plant Controller to lead the financial performance of a $100M+ manufacturing facility, with the
scope, visibility, and influence of running a standalone business. This facility plays a critical role in our operations and is a key driver of performance and growth.
This is not a back-office accounting role—this position offers the opportunity to drive continued performance improvement and operational excellence within a key manufacturing site.
This is a true business partner to operations, working side-by-side with the Plant Manager and broader plant leadership team to drive performance, challenge decisions, and deliver results.
Why This Role Stands Out
  • Operate as the financial leader of a $100M+ manufacturing operation, driving performance, accountability, and results
  • Direct partnership with Plant Operations leadership, influencing key business decisions daily
  • High-visibility role with the ability to shape plant strategy and financial outcomes
  • Opportunity to make a measurable impact on profitability, cost structure, and operational performance
  • Culture grounded in continuous improvement, accountability, and collaboration
Responsibilities:
Drive Business Performance
  • Act as a strategic advisor to plant leadership, delivering actionable financial insights that influence decision-making
  • Own plant P amp;L performance — identifying risks, opportunities, and driving corrective actions
  • Partner with operations to drive cost reduction, margin improvement, and productivity gains
Lead Plant Financial Operations
  • Own the month-end close, forecasting, and reporting processes with accuracy and speed
  • Lead manufacturing variance analysis (labor, material, overhead) and translate insights into action
  • Drive the annual budgeting and strategic planning process
Own Costing amp; Manufacturing Finance
  • Lead and maintain standard costing systems and cost visibility across the plant
  • Provide insight into manufacturing variances, inventory performance, and key cost drivers impacting profitability
  • Support critical decisions including make vs. buy, capital investments (CapEx), and program/product costing
Strengthen Controls amp; Processes
  • Ensure GAAP compliance and strong internal controls
  • Partner with internal and external auditors
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, systems, and reporting
Lead Through Influence
  • Operate as a key member of the plant leadership team, influencing cross-functional decisions
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships across finance, operations, and plant teams
  • Partner with shared services (AP/AR, etc.) to ensure alignment and execution
  • Drive a culture of accountability, transparency, and performance
Minimum Skills and Experience You Bring to Motus:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (CPA/CMA strongly preferred)
• 5-7 years of progressive finance experience in a manufacturing environment
• Proven Plant Controller (or equivalent plant finance leadership) experience
• Strong expertise in:
• Standard costing and manufacturing variance analysis
• Inventory and working capital management
• Budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
• Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Plex, Oracle, QAD, etc.)
• Demonstrated ability to partner with operations and influence business decisions
What Sets You Apart
• You think like an owner, not just an accountant
• You are comfortable challenging assumptions and driving change
• You translate financial data into clear, actionable business insights
• You thrive in a fast-paced, plant environment
• You bring a continuous improvement mindset and a bias for action
The Bottom Line
This is an opportunity to lead the financial performance of a $100M+ manufacturing operation, operate as a true business partner to plant leadership, and make a direct, measurable impact on the success of the business. If you’re a proven Plant Controller looking for a role with greater ownership, visibility, and influence—we’d like to connect.
