Essential Duties and Responsibilities
WHAT TO EXPECT
As an innovation leader, we look for ambitious, forward thinking, open-minded and well-rounded individuals to join our global team. Located in our Englewood, CO or Rochester Hills, MI engineering offices, you will be a Field Product Application Engineer! The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver with strong mechanical and technical skills, capable of working independently and as part of a team.
  • You'll be working with the Industrial Application Engineering team and reporting to the Application Engineer - Power Transmission Lead.
  • This is an exciting opportunity for you because you will be working with customers on a variety of product applications primarily in our industrial markets.
  • You will help troubleshoot issues that arise with customer products and help design and recommend solutions using Gates products.

Key responsibilities (to name a few):
  • Providing engineering service to customers and clients in the proper application and selection of power transmission products
  • Effectively present technical and product training material to internal and external customers
  • Working cooperatively with North American Field Sales, Product Line Managers, and the Marketing Team to achieve organizational success
  • Analyzing application requirements, providing failure analysis, selecting components, and making recommendations to meet system requirements
  • Troubleshooting any questions customers pose via phone, email, and in-person. Building strong relationships is crucial to success in this role

Requirements and Preferred Skills
ABOUT YOU
  • Bachelor's Degree, preferrable Mechanical, plus 3-5 years of engineering experience OR 5-10 years of progressive engineering experience, required.
  • Eager to be hands on working with our customers, engineers, sales, and marketing teams!
  • Engineering discipline with a focus on Mechanical and Power Transimission systems, preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to manage customer personalities effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills - coupled with the ability to maintain and generate product application literature, media, and technical articles.
  • Ability to travel to customers, plants and conferences as required (minimum 25%).
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize resources and project timelines.
  • Proficient in MicroSoft Office products
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship.
