Technician, Vehicle and Factory

Furientis

Los Angeles, CA

Full-time

Posted 3 days ago

Job description

America is critically deficient in production of defensive munitions- we currently produce shipborne interceptors in the few hundreds per year while our adversaries are producing offensive threats in the tens of thousands per year. Furientis was started to help solve this problem- introducing a new class of cost-effective, high production rate, interceptor missiles. We're seeking motivated individuals who internalize this problem and are eager to apply their past experience in similar industries (aerospace, defense, automotive/racing, robotics) and out of the box thinking to solve this problem for the US and its allies.
About the Team

Vehicle Engineering owns the missile as a physical object from design through flight: structures, mechanical integration of the full subsystem stack, and the build.

About the Role

We are looking for a generalist technician who can build, fabricate, and integrate hardware across vehicle engineering and the factory floor, with regular hands-on support to propulsion. You will work alongside the mechanical, vehicle, and propulsion engineers from clean-sheet prototype through ground test and flight.

This is not a production-line role. You will fabricate one-off parts, build fixtures and ground support equipment, lay up composite structures, plumb test stands, and stand up new processes as we go. We are looking for technicians who enjoy building new hardware and are self-starters.

What You'll Do
  • Build, integrate, and rework airframe and vehicle structures across the prototype vehicle fleet.
  • Assist in ground testing, fabrication, and assembly of flight structures.
  • Operate manual and CNC mills, lathes, and basic fabrication equipment to make one-off parts and fixtures.
  • Weld and sheet-metal-form ground support equipment, test stand structures, and vehicle components.
  • Fabricate composite structures: layup, vacuum bag, trim, and bonded assembly.
  • Build and plumb fluid and pressurization systems for ground test and vehicle support.
  • Support solid rocket motor build operations alongside the manufacturing engineer: case prep, inert hardware assembly, fixture build, and Mojave site work.
  • Set up, instrument, and tear down ground test articles.
  • Run shop discipline: 5S, traceability, FOD control.
Skills We're Hiring For
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficiency with shop machining equipment. Manual mill and lathe at minimum.
  • Welding fluency in TIG and MIG across steel and aluminum.
  • Hands-on composite layup and secondary bonding.
  • Comfortable reading mechanical drawings and GD&T basics.
  • Solid mechanical assembly discipline: torque procedures, fastener selection, fit and clearance feel.
  • Able to work independently in a small shop without production-engineering hand-holding.
Bonus Points For
  • Hands-on munitions, missile, UAV, or experimental aircraft build experience.
  • Experience with energetic or hazardous material handling.
  • Pressure system or cryogenic plumbing experience.
  • AWS D17.1 or equivalent aerospace welding certification.
  • CNC programming or CAM experience.
  • Stood up a shop or test site from a clean sheet.
  • Hobbyist build background (high-power rocketry, race vehicles, custom motorcycles, machinist hobbyist).

Eligibility & Logistics Location: On-site at our Los Angeles, CA HQ; remote work is not available. Monthly weekend travel for test events and supplier engagements. Clearance: A clearance is not required for this position. Must be a U.S. Person.

Equal Opportunity & Export Compliance Furientis is an equal-opportunity employer. To comply with U.S. export control laws, employment is contingent on eligibility to access export-controlled information.
