This will be remote within the states of Kansas, Kentucky, and South Carolina.

Job Purpose

   Under the direction of the V.P. of Global OPS Motive Power, the Director of Legacy Operations MP will be responsible for the Legacy Americas manufacturing plants in Richmond (KY), Sumter (SC) Hays (KS) and coordinates with other Legacy sites as the network evolves. Within those sites, the Leader has direct responsibility for EOS, EHS, Quality, Manufacturing, Maintenance and Engineering. The Leader has full ownership of Legacy Americas operational and financial performance with direct accountability for CAPEX planning, prioritization, and cash flow management across all sites.  The Leader will drive a culture of continuous improvement, ensure the plants are structured to support the future growth of the organization, and process as well as product-related improvements. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Coordinate all operations related activities in all the Legacy plants.
  • Coordinate all departments, providing guidance and leadership to the organization according to plans, policies, strategy, legal requirements, and group governance.
  • Partner with Supply Chain leaders to ensure material availability, supplier quality, and cost-effective sourcing align with production requirements.
  • Coordinate with the supply chain leaders to ensure efficiency and quality.
  • Work closely with Sales and Product Management from the line of businesses.
  • Drive measurable waste elimination (Muda, Mura, Muri) through structured Lean/EOS tools, visual management, and daily accountability systems.
  • Proactively explores new programs for continuous improvements in alignment with our global EOS organization to improve processes to achieve the best quality, cost effectiveness and reliability.
  • Is fully aligned with our values and EOS principles and techniques.
  • Comply with legal requirements for Environment, Health & Safety, Maintenance of Infrastructure, and Sustainability liaising with all relevant managers.
  • Own and drive improvement in key plant metrics across People (Safety, BLL, Engagement, Attendance), Customer (OTD, Quality, Claims), and Shareholder (Cost, Productivity, Inventory, Cash) categories using Plan vs Actual reporting and daily management systems.
  • Utilize a daily reporting structure to provide good visualization for fast reaction and accountability for performance.
  • Adjust operational plan with strategic growth plan.
  • Serve as the operations leader for the Legacy supply-side input to the SIOP process, ensuring capacity plans, production schedules, and inventory targets are aligned with demand and financial objectives.
  • Sets advanced industrial engineering priorities to optimize production equipment.
  • Participate in long-term business planning providing strategies and plans to the VP of OPS for reporting to the C-Suite.
  • Sets strategic breakthrough targets through the strategy deployment process.
  • Weekly and Monthly reporting to the VP of OPS Global Motive Power.
  • Actively engage the Plants with the Company's ESG initiatives, including key objectives in the execution of Strategy Deployment.

Ability to travel up to 50 - 60% as required between the Legacy sites.

Qualifications

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES:

Overall control and supervision of all operations activities.

Direct supervisor for Plant Managers at Richmond, Sumter and Hays facilities. 

Direct supervision of Plant level support functions:  HR, Finance, IT & Technology

Dotted line coordination with EOS (Global EOS Leader), Quality (Director of MP Legacy & Flooded Quality), and EHS (Director EHS Americas)

  EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • Strong leadership and excellent managerial skills; communication, negotiation, presentation, organization, planning, analytical skills, targets oriented, market awareness.
  • Advanced proficiency in process optimization methodologies (e.g. Lean Management).
  • The individual should be highly motivated, passionate, and committed to professional standards and performance to drive for results with a proactive and hands-on approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and develop leaders with a foundation of reliability and integrity
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP preferred), data analytics tools (Power BI preferred), and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Operations Management, Business, or related field required. Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of multi-plant operations leadership with full P&L accountability.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Operations, preferably Battery Manufacturing but not required.

       -  Minimum 5 years of experience in continuous improvement.

       - Preferably operating within an Operating System based on advanced lean principles.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

English required.  Spanish proficiency is a strong plus.
