Job Title: Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) – Intake Therapist (Adult Behavioral Health)

Location: Southgate, MI 48195
Job Type: Permanent Full Time
Shift: Evenings (Mon–Thu 4:00 PM – 12:00 AM, Fri 4:00 PM – 11:00 PM; occasional Sat 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM)
Compensation: $29.47 – $39.88/hour (Full License rate)


Position Summary:

The LMSW Intake Therapist provides behavioral health intake, assessment, and initial treatment planning services for adult and pediatric populations in an outpatient behavioral health urgent care setting. The role focuses on crisis assessment, service linkage, and collaborative care planning to support individuals and families in need of mental health services.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct intake assessments to identify client needs and service preferences
  • Gather and evaluate information from clients, families, and medical records
  • Develop safety plans based on clinical assessments when required
  • Initiate person-centered treatment planning and care coordination
  • Provide information on available behavioral health services and supports
  • Facilitate referrals for psychological testing and specialized services
  • Utilize motivational interviewing techniques during assessments
  • Document all clinical interactions and service activities within required timelines
  • Participate in supervision, team meetings, and case consultations
  • Maintain productivity standards and complete required documentation
  • Ensure compliance with agency policies, ethics, and state licensure requirements


Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Counseling
  • Active State of Michigan full licensure (LMSW, LLP, or LPC)
  • Minimum 1 year post-master’s experience in mental health treatment
  • Experience working with adults, children, and individuals with severe mental illness
  • Minimum 1 year experience with minors and family systems
  • Strong understanding of crisis intervention (highly preferred)
  • Eligibility to obtain QMHP, CMHP, and QIDP credentials within 120 days of hire
  • CAADC credential or active MCBAP certification plan (within 6 weeks of hire)
  • Must not require visa sponsorship
