Electric Motor Mechanic — AC/DC Motor Repair & Reconditioning

  Toledo, OH    |  Full-Time

Romanoff Industries, an MCE Company    |  All required tools provided

Do you get satisfaction from taking a worn-out motor, working through it piece by piece, and putting it back together knowing it'll run like new?

At Romanoff Industries, our Electric Motor Mechanics are at the heart of what makes us one of the most trusted names in the industry. With over 45 years in the electric motor business and one of the largest inventories of used, surplus, and reconditioned motors in North America, we hold ourselves to standards well above anything else you'll find in the used equipment world. You'll work in our Toledo shop disassembling, repairing, testing, and reconditioning AC/DC motors using your hands, your judgment, and a set of skills you'll keep building for years.

No prior motor experience required just a strong mechanical aptitude, a willingness to learn, and the work ethic to do the job right every time.

Compensation & Benefits

$25.00 – $30.00/hr based on experience. We take care of our team with a full benefits package:

  • All required tools provided; no need to purchase or bring your own.
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Company-paid life, AD&D, and short- and long-term disability insurance.
  • 401(k) with a generous company match.
  • Generous PTO and paid holidays.
  • Tuition reimbursement: we invest in your development.
  • Paid parental leave.
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
  • Fitness and nutrition resources.
  • Voluntary benefit products.
What You'll Do

Motor Repair & Reconditioning

  • Disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble AC/DC electric motors and accessories to Romanoff's stringent quality standards.
  • Operate cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment to safely position parts throughout the repair process.
  • Maintain all shop tools and equipment in proper working order; keep your workspace clean and organized to standard.

Testing & Quality

  • Perform routine motor testing including: megging, surge/hipot testing, micrometer fits, single-phase rotor tests, growler tests, drop tests, bar-to-bar tests, and dynamic balancing.
  • Work in full accordance with all safety guidelines — every job, every time.
  • Complete all required paperwork accurately and on time for every order.
What We're Looking For

Must Have:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude; you understand how things work and can figure out how to fix them.
  • Physical strength and stamina for hands-on shop work, lifting, moving, and working with heavy equipment.
  • Basic math skills and the ability to interpret measurements accurately.
  • Willingness to learn and grow, we'll teach you the rest.
  • High school diploma, GED, or vocational certification preferred.

Nice to Have:

  • Prior experience working with electric motors, controls, or electrical systems, a strong head start.
  • Background in a related mechanical or industrial trade (machinist, maintenance technician, electrician, etc.).
  • Forklift or overhead crane experience.
Who Thrives Here

At Romanoff, we have a set of core values that define how we work and the people who thrive here embody all of them:

  • Problem Solvers: You find a way when there isn't one.
  • Attention to Detail: "No surprises" is how we operate.

  • Go Above and Beyond: You do whatever it takes to finish the job right.
  • Accountable: We own our mistakes
