Location: Buffalo, NY

Salary: $100,000-$125,000

The Controls Engineer will design, maintain, and improve industrial automation systems supporting manufacturing operations. This role requires strong PLC programming, troubleshooting, and system-level problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, program, and maintain PLC-based control systems and HMI applications.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, controls, and automation issues in a production environment.
  • Support equipment commissioning, startups, upgrades, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, control drawings, and P&IDs.
  • Partner with Engineering, Maintenance, and Production to resolve equipment and process issues.
  • Document PLC logic, I/O changes, software revisions, and system modifications.
  • Ensure controls systems comply with applicable safety standards and engineering practices.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, including robotics, motion control, and vision systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline preferred.
  • Industrial automation and controls experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in PLC programming, troubleshooting, and HMI development.
