Overview

Applied Technical Services (ATS) is a leading provider of critical testing, inspection, certification, and compliance services. The company serves clients across manufacturing, power generation, aerospace, medical, and defense. ATS was founded in 1967 and is headquartered in Marietta, GA. ARCCA, LLC is part of the ATS family of companies and operates as a forensic, scientific, and engineering firm with multiple offices nationwide.

Location: Penns Park, PA. Department: Forensic Engineering. Job title: Coordinating Biomechanist / Biomechanical Engineer. This role supports a team of experts by providing case-specific technical expertise in forensic disciplines, including accident reconstruction, biomechanics and human factors, and failure analysis. The candidate should have advanced knowledge in these areas and a strong interest in evidence inspection, advanced technologies and software, and the ability to present technical concepts to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities
  • Provide project support to experts who are investigating and analyzing accidents, failures, and injuries.
  • Participate in field inspections (often onsite) with the expert team and observe the documentation of physical evidence.
  • Utilize 3D laser scanners, motion capture technology, and other leading software to assist with forensic analysis.
  • Assist with preservation of physical evidence.
  • Observe the process of researching, reconstructing and analyzing all facts to determine what happened with assigned cases.
  • Observe the lifecycle of a case from initial investigation and digital preservation of evidence to testing as instructed by the experts.
  • Assist and support experts with pre-deposition and pre-trial preparation of exhibits and reports.
  • Assist the experts with data collection for publication in technical journals.
  • Participate in research and development of innovative methodologies for publication in technical journals.
  • Attend and conduct technical lectures to various audiences/groups as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor or Masterโ€™s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biomechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to field environments (including courtroom environments for testifying experts).
  • Demonstrates the ability to clearly communicate technical findings.
  • Shows passion for cause-and-effect analysis and a high level of curiosity when evaluating physical evidence.
