Job Summary: Conducts detailed environmental, electrical, mechanical and physical tests on a variety of passive electrical components assigned by the Reliability Test Lab Operations Supervisor.
Job Location:
Vishay Dale Electronics, Columbus, NE is one of the world's largest manufacturers of resistors and e-beam technology. There are around 600 employees currently working in Columbus, NE. We are one of the largest employers in the Columbus Area.
What you will be doing:
  • Operates sophisticated testing and measurement equipment as Computerized DC Resistance Reading Stations, computer and LAN programs for scheduling and data entry and test report completion, Digital Multi-meters with Kelvin Fixtures, Handheld Multi-meters, Dielectric Withstanding Voltage Testers, Megohm Bridges, Power Supplies, Impedance Analyzers, Environmental Chambers and Special Test setups/fixtures.
  • Uses computer terminal to log test request and product detail data. Uses LAN system and reading stations to read and log detail test performance data into computer. Prepares printed copies of completed test reports and reviews reports for data completion and accuracy. Errors may have serious impact on manufacturing operations.
  • Composes test reports for publication, filling in detail comments, supplemental information, reference failure notice report numbers, failure analysis report numbers, test temperatures, test equipment asset numbers, and page numbers.
  • Acquires proficiency in the use of a calculator for Ohm's Law calculations and electrical Power calculations.
  • Coordinates testing, due to day-to-day variations by readying, rereading, interpreting, and then performance of test methods of complex and detailed Military, Industrial, Customer or Dale/Vishay specifications with considerable cross-referencing necessary. Requires considerable learning and attention to detail. Misinterpretation can have severe negative consequences in the form of test failures of test anomalies.
  • Creates workload and test plan schedules and sets workload priorities per Qualification, Lot Acceptance, and Evaluation test plan needs and per Reliability Test Lab Operations Supervisor.
  • Consults with the Special Test Supervisor or Facilities Engineering personnel to set-up new, unusual, or unique tests, test sample configurations or special test filtering.
  • Use basic hand tools such as soldering iron, pliers, side cutters, Exacto knife, screwdriver, wire strippers, thermometers, etc. that are required in wiring, soldering, and assembly of test apparatus/ fixtures. Operates small calculators and computer terminals on a regular basis.

What you will bring along:
  • High School diploma or equivalent is required with inclusion of basic mathematics and science courses
  • Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English.
  • Preferred 1-year minimum experience on the production of electrical components and/or manufacturing environment.
  • Preferred basic domain of production process of the Military, Industrial, Customer of electronics components according to Dale/Vishay specifications or methods as necessary.
