Job description

Branch 2 Field Representative Pest Control Technician

Cartwright Termite & Pest Control, Inc. – San Diego County, CA

Pay: $23.00–$28.00 per hour + commission on eligible sales + nighttime work incentive pay
Job Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Saturday through Wednesday – Open Availability Required
Benefits: Medical, Dental, 401(k), In-House Continuing Education, Career Advancement

Cartwright Termite & Pest Control, Inc., family-owned and serving Southern California since 1962, is seeking a dependable, professional Pest Control Technician.

We are more than a traditional pest-control company. Our technicians work in residential, commercial, municipal, school, industrial, transportation, food service, property-management, and other specialized environments.

Our focus is on inspection, pest identification, Integrated Pest Management, prevention, documentation, and long-term solutions — not simply applying pesticides.

Why Cartwright?

Technicians may gain experience in:

  • General pest control
  • Rodent inspection, trapping, baiting, exclusion, remediation recommendations, and prevention
  • Cockroach and drain/sewer programs
  • Bed bugs
  • Termite and fumigation
  • Bird and wildlife control
  • Bee services
  • Gopher and ground-squirrel control
  • Mosquito/vector control
  • Commercial, municipal, and school IPM
  • Emergency pest response

Cartwright is also a California licensed contractor, CSLB #290964, with B, C-10, C-36, and C-39 classifications.

Professional development includes in-house Continuing Education for all three Structural Pest Control branches, specialty training, and support for additional licensing and certifications.

Build Your Licenses – Build Your Career:

Cartwright encourages employees to advance their professional qualifications, including:

  • Branch 1, 2, and 3 licensing
  • Applicator, Field Representative, and Operator licenses
  • QAC and QAL
  • Additional DPR categories
  • Fish & Wildlife-related licensing
  • Fumigation, bird, wildlife, and exclusion training

At Cartwright, gaining another license should open another door. Advancement opportunities may include specialty services, inspections, sales, account management, supervision, training, quality assurance, and management.

Rodent Control – More Than Bait Stations:

Our rodent programs focus on identifying the cause of the problem, not just treating immediate activity.

Technicians inspect for:

  • Entry points and structural openings
  • Nesting and harborage
  • Food and water sources
  • Sanitation conditions
  • Conducive conditions contributing to ongoing activity

Recommendations may include trapping, baiting, exclusion, sanitation corrections, remediation, structural repairs, and long-term prevention.

Compensation & Benefits:

Starting pay depends on licensing, experience, technical ability, driving record, and overall qualifications.

Eligible full-time employees may receive:

  • $23.00–$28.00 per hour
  • Commission on eligible sales
  • Nighttime work incentive pay
  • Medical insurance
  • Dental insurance
  • 401(k) retirement plan
  • In-house Continuing Education
  • Licensing and certification support
  • Advancement opportunities

No high-pressure selling. We want technicians who can identify legitimate customer needs, explain conditions professionally, and recommend appropriate solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform residential and commercial pest-control services
  • Inspect and identify pest activity and contributing conditions
  • Apply IPM principles
  • Service rodent bait stations and traps
  • Inspect for rodent entry points, nesting, and conducive conditions
  • Develop rodent-control recommendations, including exclusion, sanitation, remediation, and structural corrections
  • Treat common structural pests
  • Explain findings and recommendations to customers
  • Maintain accurate electronic service records
  • Follow pesticide labels, SDS requirements, and safety procedures
  • Maintain company equipment and service vehicles
  • Represent Cartwright professionally

Requirements:

  • Branch 2 Field Representative license
  • Valid California driver's license and acceptable driving record
  • Must be able to pass a TSA background check
  • Strong communication and customer-service skills
  • Dependable, organized, and detail-oriented
  • Able to work independently
  • Able to safely lift approximately 50 pounds
  • Able to climb ladders and work indoors and outdoors
  • Comfortable working in attics, crawlspaces, kitchens, utility areas, and commercial environments when required
  • Able to use smartphones and electronic service software
  • Interested in continued training and licensing

Schedule:

Saturday through Wednesday – Open Availability Required

Cartwright operates 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, including emergency and after-hours response. Some commercial, airport, municipal, and specialty work may require nighttime or after-hours service.
