What is a mortgage processor?

Mortgage processors are professionals who handle and organize the documentation and information required to process a mortgage loan application. They act as a liaison between the borrower, loan officer, and underwriter, ensuring that all necessary paperwork is complete, accurate, and submitted on time. Their responsibilities include verifying employment and financial information, ordering credit reports, coordinating appraisals, and tracking the progress of the loan application to ensure it moves smoothly toward approval and closing.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a mortgage processor?

To thrive as a Mortgage Processor, you need a solid understanding of loan products, mortgage regulations, and financial documentation, typically supported by experience in the finance or real estate industry. Familiarity with loan origination systems (LOS), automated underwriting tools, and compliance software is essential. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective communication set outstanding processors apart. These skills ensure accurate, timely processing of loan applications, minimizing errors and delays while maintaining regulatory compliance.

What are the most common challenges faced by mortgage processors, and how can they be managed effectively?

Mortgage processors often encounter tight deadlines and frequent changes in documentation requirements, which can make staying organized challenging. Managing multiple loan files at different stages of completion requires strong attention to detail and effective communication with loan officers, underwriters, and clients. Mortgage processors handle the review and verification of loan documents, requiring attention to detail, organizational skills, and knowledge of lending guidelines. The role can involve repetitive tasks and tight deadlines, but it is generally manageable with experience and familiarity with processing software. Job description

Sales Training Program – Reverse Mortgage Loan Officer

Launch your career in the reverse mortgage industry with the backing of one of America's most trusted financial brands — Mutual of Omaha, a Fortune 300 organization with over 100 years of stability.

What to Expect

Your journey begins with an immersive one-month virtual classroom experience, where you'll build a strong foundation in reverse mortgage products, sales fundamentals, compliance, systems, and customer conversations.

After completing the virtual classroom, you'll transition into a comprehensive 12-month development program designed to accelerate your success. You'll participate in weekly skill-building sessions, receive personalized one-on-one coaching from experienced sales leaders, and apply what you've learned through real-world customer interactions.

Our goal isn't simply to help you become licensed or originate your first loan—it's to develop confident, knowledgeable, high-performing mortgage professionals with the skills, coaching, and support to build a rewarding long-term career.

Who we're looking for:

We especially encourage experienced traditional mortgage loan originators to apply. If you understand the lending business and want to serve a growing, underserved market — retirees looking to strategically strengthen their retirement income — we want to talk!

Don't have your NMLS license? No problem. We'll help you obtain and pay for your NMLS license.

If you have a proven track record of success in sales and are looking for an opportunity to make a meaningful impact while building a rewarding career, we want to hear from you. Our associates help retirees make confident, informed financial decisions, to improve their quality of life. The most successful professionals in this role are those who build trust, ask thoughtful questions, listen with intention, and serve as trusted advisors through one of the most important financial decisions their clients will make.

What you can expect to earn:

  • To assist with the transition you are covered with a monthly base during the 12 month training program.
  • Established Loan Officers in our program routinely earn $100,000+

What sets us apart:

  • The brand recognition and credibility of Mutual of Omaha behind every conversation
  • Industry-leading training from the nation's top reverse mortgage sales leaders
  • A revolutionary sales process for working with both consumers and referral professionals
  • World-class sales, marketing, and operations support from day one

Benefits include:

  • Multiple PPO Medical Plans, including an HDHP-eligible option
  • Dental and Vision Coverage
  • Paid Sick Time — 40 hours after 90 days (state requirements applied as applicable)
  • 9 Paid Holidays + 1 Cultural Celebration Day (Floating Holiday)
  • 401(k) with generous employer match
  • Company Paid Life Insurance

Mutual of Omaha Mortgage is an Equal Opportunity Employer, and we encourage diverse, talented, qualified applicants to apply.
