Role : Data Analyst with Strong SQL

Location: McLean, VA (5 Days Onsite)

We are looking for a Data Analyst with advanced SQL skills and strong **mortgage industry experience**. The candidate will analyze mortgage data, build complex SQL queries, support reporting and data validation, and work closely with business and technology teams across mortgage operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze mortgage data across origination, underwriting, servicing, investor reporting, and compliance areas.
  • Write and optimize complex SQL queries for data extraction, validation, reconciliation, and reporting.
  • Perform data profiling, data mapping, data quality checks, and root-cause analysis.
  • Gather and document business/data requirements from stakeholders.
  • Create reports, dashboards, and ad hoc data extracts using BI/reporting tools.
  • Validate data across source systems, data warehouses, and reporting platforms.
  • Prepare source-to-target mapping, data dictionaries, and functional documentation.
  • Support UAT activities, including test case preparation, SQL validation, and defect tracking.
  • Collaborate with business users, data engineering, QA, and product teams.
  • Required Skills
  • Strong experience as a Data Analyst.
  • Hands-on **mortgage industry experience** is required.
  • Advanced SQL skills including joins, CTEs, window functions, stored procedures, views, and query optimization.
  • Experience with relational databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, Snowflake, Teradata, or PostgreSQL.
  • Strong understanding of mortgage lifecycle processes including loan origination, servicing, underwriting, investor reporting, and compliance.
  • Experience with reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Excel, or SSRS.
  • Strong data analysis, data validation, reconciliation, and documentation skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Preferred Skills
  • Experience with mortgage platforms such as Encompass, Black Knight/MSP, LoanSphere, Empower, or Fiserv.
  • Exposure to ETL, data warehouse, data mart, or cloud data platforms.
  • Agile/Scrum experience is a plus.
  • Mortgage domain experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience with complex SQL and data validation.
