Up to $20,000 Sign-On bonus based on experience

GENERAL DUTIES:
Support and assist the development of the Rehabilitation Program area(s) assigned and for the provision of Speech Therapy services.  Rehabilitation Services at Desert Regional Medical Center include the provision of physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy to patients on acute units, the Skilled Nursing Facility and in the Outpatient Program.  This program provides services to include wound care, orthopedic, and neuro-rehab. Access to all Patient Health Information for treatment purposes only.

Required:
Valid California Speech Pathology Licensure
Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS


Preferred:
Experience in Barium Swallow Evaluations

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC DUTIES:

Evaluate and treat patient using good body mechanics and safety techniques.
Performs evaluations, planning, and treatment of patients in a timely manner.
Document accurately, clearly, legibly, timely (the day of treatment) within the scope of practice. This will include evaluations, progress notes, reports and calls to Physicians, prescription updates, checking for authorization approvals prior to treatment and accurate charges, completing all necessary chart information to ensure accurate information for care and reimbursement.
Report all possible overtime activity to the Rehab manager for approval prior to accepting the assignment. Participate in rotation of self-directed work team scheduling.
Communicate any loss of supplies and lock supplies for security. Prevent unnecessary overstocking of supplies in the areas assigned.
Attend and participate in team meetings to discuss care plans, disseminate information, and provide support to the team to assist in the success of departmental goals. Participate in assigned self-directed work team projects.
Attend (and give) the in-services offered by the department to improve the clinical strength of the department.
Provide for the age specific care through integration of the patient's developmental stages in the life span through attendance of in-services internal and /or external. It is the responsibility of the professional to refrain from treatment of patients that they have not passed competencies for within the scope of practice.
Prepares equipment and therapy treatment sites for safe and clean provision of services.
Prepare, utilize, return supplies and equipment in a safe and cost efficient manner.
Communicates equipment problems promptly and performs monthly equipment safety inspections as assigned and reports findings to the supervising therapist or self-directed team leader.
Assists with scheduling of patient and with awareness of the patient needs if receiving multiple therapy interventions. Promotes team cooperation between professions to focus on patient's needs and goals.
