Job Title: Open Rank-Adjoint Instructor, Adjoint Sr. Instructor - Moonlighting Emergency Psychiatrist or APP

Job Summary:
The University of Colorado Anschutz School of Medicine's Department of Psychiatry has an opening for a PRN Adjoint Sr Instructor or Adjoint Sr Instructor in the Emergency Department (CDU2).
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manages psychiatric treatment needs of populations primarily in CDU2
  • Participates in clinical research and dissemination of findings, including presentation of scholarly writing.
  • This position will also participate in performance improvement activities, quality improvement, patient safety activities; assist in maintaining compliance with JCAHO accreditation and other internal and external regulatory statues including the code of conduct.

Work Location:
Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

The Department of Psychiatry is one of the largest units in the UCD-SOM and is comprised of 5 Divisions. The CU Department of Psychiatry sets the standard for Education and Training of leaders in psychiatry and mental health care, conducts ground-breaking Research that aims to eradicate suffering due to psychiatric and substance use disorders, provides ready access to state of-the-art mental health preventions and interventions across the continuum of care, and collaborates with the community and other key stakeholders to promote well-being among all Coloradans. Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Rank at the time of appointment will be based on the candidate's demonstrated contributions and experience in teaching, clinical, research, and/or service to the field. We welcome applicants with a range of backgrounds and accomplishments and encourage individuals to highlight the breadth and depth of their professional impact.
This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Adjoint Instructor or Adjoint Senior Instructor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:
Adjoint Instructor:
  • 1-3 years of related clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience.
  • Board Certification with American Nurse Credentialing Agency or equivalent certification body
  • Active and unrestricted license in Colorado as an APN/RXN or PA; OR
  • MD/DO degree and board certified or eligible in Psychiatry

Adjoint Sr. Instructor:
  • 1-3 years of related clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience.
  • Board Certification with American Nurse Credentialing Agency or equivalent certification body and active and unrestricted license in Colorado as an APN/RXN or PA; OR
  • MD/DO degree and board certified or eligible in Psychiatry

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in psychiatry.
  • Experience working in residential and community-based settings.
  • Experience working with individuals with serious mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders.
  • Current and active certification in basic like support (BLS)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Passion and excitement to contribute to the development of a robust emergency psychiatry program.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures, and techniques.
  • Able to effectively manage and direct medical staff support activities while providing quality medical care.
  • Able to receive detailed information through oral communication, express or exchange ideas by verbal communication.
  • Excellent listening and social skills
  • Able to interact effectively with people of varied educational, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds as well as various skill levels and value systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse population of faculty, staff, and students.
  • Performs in a tactful and professional manner.
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
  • Relies on sound clinical experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Clinical skill is required for conducting brief and targeted assessments in integrated care settings.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • Capacity for flexibility and adaptability in different work situations.
  • Ability to work effectively on multiple tasks and maintain a well-organized work environment.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • EPIC certification

Psychiatrist Adjoint Instructor/Senior Instructor: $166.67 / hr
APP Adjoint Instructor/Senior Instructor: $120 / hr
The above range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
